Obama loses the Catholic vote

No one is forced to enter a Catholic Hospital.....and its the fuckin law that they treat everybody....which they do no matter what you believe.....

Contraception isn't a fucking disease you pinhead.....neither is pregnancy....
they don't have an obligation to buy you crutches, a wheel chair or cough drops.........
and if they are forced to stop providing health insurance to their employees, blame that asswipe you voted for.

You're confusing who the asswipes are. ObamaCare or a successor policy will prevent such nonsense in the future. It's time to remove the link between employer and health care. It's time to make health care accessible for everyone, regardless. No exceptions. No conditions. No "ifs", "ands" or "buts".

So shall it be! :)

No confusion on my part......I have Obama and you in the right category....and you confuse the real issue with supplying Trojans or abortion to women.....the real issue, the important issue is ignoring the rights set forth in the Constitution by this asswipe making demands that directly destroy those rights......
Try thinking more like a educated citizen rather than a stupid Democratic partisan............

Not necessarily. If a Catholic hospital's the only one in town and someone has an emergency, that's where they'll go. But that's beside the point, bonehead.

If you think all Catholic institutions toe the line drawn by Vatican officials, you have a lot to learn about the church. A lot of it depends on what the particular bishop decrees. There are conservative bishops, liberal bishops and those in between. Catholicism is no different from any other religion or school of thought, the man-made rules are interpreted differently by those in charge. Catholic hospitals have provided contraception and done sterilizations despite what you think. Furthermore, you and your conservative cronies just confirm my opinion that it's the woman who always has to carry the burden of bogus childbearing restrictions imposed by men. Much has been said about stupid women spreading their legs, using abortion as birth control, etc. Find me a comment by some Catholic kahuna who chastises men for using condoms or getting vasectomies. And then do some research on the Catholic Church and contraception through the ages, before you again open your piehole about issues you have precious little knowledge of.

Do you have anything to substantiate your suggestion that that would be the only hospital in town?
And if it's beside the point, why did you bring it up?

I would recommend you do not join the Catholic Church. Seriously, if they try to make you join, I'll come fight for you.

The top U.S. Catholic bishop vowed legislative and court challenges Tuesday to a compromise by President Barack Obama to his healthcare mandate that now exempts religiously affiliated institutions from paying directly for birth control for their workers, instead making insurance companies responsible.

The administration's initial position had outraged evangelicals and Catholic bishops and emboldened many Republicans who charged that it amounted to an assault on religion by forcing religious institutions to pay for contraception, sterilization and the morning-after pill against their consciences.

Cardinal-designate Timothy Dolan, who heads the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, said "I want to take him at his word". But he stressed: "I do have to say it's getting harder and harder" to believe Obama.

"Does the federal government have the right to tell a religious individual or a religious entity how to define yourself?" Dolan asked. "This is what gives us greater chill."

He vowed to support legislation under way in Congress that would allow any employer to deny birth control coverage if it runs counter to their religious or moral beliefs.

On Saturday, Pope Benedict XVI will make Dolan and 20 other bishops cardinals, the red-capped princes of the church who will elect the next pope.

I'm no expert on the Catholic Church but
Personally, I think you're full of shit......prove that claim.......name the hospital....

and wtf makes you believe Bishops can change church dogma that has been adhered to for centuries ? Do they somehow overrule Gods word ? this isn't about eating meat on Friday or women covering their heads in Church, or standing or kneeling at certain times, etc....

Save your recommendation for someone who cares. I'm a baptized, lifelong Catholic.

Doesn't mean you have to stay......Its painfully stupid to insist on belonging to a religion and not believe, follow and defend its dogma......

but that kind of stupidity explains why one would remain a life-long Democrat after realizing the truth of their anti-American, socialist/communist positions.

Well you're an adult and all, right? Seems you have serious problems with the Church and though your parents made a decision for you long ago, you do not to act in a hypocritical manner now.

Ignoring what rights? Trying to ensure citizens receive medical care and attempting to prevent the unnecessary deaths of 45,000 people every year is going against the Constitution?

I Was not dicsussing the Constitutional Issues, I was discussing if President Obama has lost the Catholic vote or not.

As far as the Constitutional issue... It seems to me that if the Church chooses to operate a business, such as a hospital, then they should not have any special treatment because they are a "Religous" orginization. They should not get special treatment or worse treatment, they should get the same treatment from the government. If they are operating an orginization that is strictly religous in nature, such as a church, then I can see where an argument can be made that they should get more hands off treatment.

Go to a Catholic Church on Sunday. Take a look at the families. Count the number of kids. Then tell me whether you think Catholics follow the Church's teaching with respect to birth control.

I belive a vast majority do not follow the churches teachings on BC. I dated lots of Catholics in my single years, not a single one followed the churches teachings. I know many married Catholics and none with more than three kids. I only know one family with more than three kids and they are not Catholic. My wife and I use birth Controll and have three intentional kids, I suspect we would have four with a fith on the way had we not used BC.

Clearly you are not a Catholic and don't understand the difference between dogma v. interpretation.

I'd like to know how many people here arguing in favor of the Church's position actually practice it in their own lives. Seems they're just using it to further their own political ends.

UPMC-Mercy, Pittsburgh PA.

Protestants changed church dogma on this particular issue so why do you think Catholics can't?

The Historic Christian Teaching

Few realize that up until 1930, all Protestant denominations agreed with the Catholic Church’s teaching condemning contraception as sinful. At its 1930 Lambeth Conference, the Anglican church, swayed by growing social pressure, announced that contraception would be allowed in some circumstances. Soon the Anglican church completely caved in, allowing contraception across the board. Since then, all other Protestant denominations have followed suit. Today, the Catholic Church alone proclaims the historic Christian position on contraception.

How stupid. You want to acknowledge and/or try to fathom Republicans and conservatives, who truly represent anti-Americanism, isolationism, racism and bigotry toward their fellow Americans????????????? Read the following: http://www.bidstrup.com/politics.htm

And quite often, it's religion that is the problem, because its' hierarchy chooses to become embroiled in politics and social issues, and voices their opinion to sway its' members toward an ideology or an agenda that is counter-intuitive or destructive, personally, or infringes on the notion of separation of church and state.

Oh please. Everybody on this forum and IRL also picks and chooses what they support in their religious beliefs. It's called human nature. It's hilarious that you even jumped into the argument, given your comments that you're an agnostic or an atheist.

That you have to tie it to politics is weak. You pick and choose which religious teachings to defend just like anybody else. Read Rerum Novarum, the Church's teachings on the working class..."Rights and Duties of Capital and Labour”.

"It discussed the relationships and mutual duties between labour and obtaining capital, as well as government and its citizens. Of primary concern was the need for some amelioration for “The misery and wretchedness pressing so unjustly on the majority of the working class.”[SUP][1][/SUP] It supported the rights of labor to form unions, rejected communism and unrestricted capitalism, whilst affirming the right to private property."

I support this but I bet you don't.
