My point is that the causes of unemployment started under Bush and manifested themselves under Obama, because unemployment is a lagging indicator. The only reason that it never became much more serious is because of the concerted measures taken around the world.

I had been becoming increasingly pessimistic, because we had been heading to what seemed like a double dip. However, it seems that we've had another bout of recovery. Last time I remember looking at unemployment, it was in the 9%'s, now it 8.5%. By the end of the year, who knows? Perhaps the recession is on its way out.

Republicans and Democrats closely follow the same economy policy anyway. Had Al Gore been president in the 2000's, I would expect the same recession to have occurred. And had a Republican been president in 2008, I would be surprised if anything turned out any differently, besides perhaps it being worse.
