Romney Parks Millions in Cayman Islands

So you waste time and effort to tell people what it "is about" because you don't care so much? Yeah. :good4u:

You're an insufferable buffoon, Damo. Once again, you jump in late on a thread, think you know what I'm talking about, and don't. And you can't even admit you were wrong.

I said a few times on the thread that it's a BS issue. But Yurt was saying the OP was about something it's not. I was correcting him. That cool with you?

Stupid hack.

Okay, jump in late... reading at least two posts on one page from Onceler about how it is important that it "is about" where he parks his money. I ask one question and I get this... When you ask when you said it was important... I point out how much effort you are putting into something you pretend doesn't matter?

And you think I am "insufferable" for that? Do you ever step beyond instant hack attack?

A valiant effort to try to make me "look bad", but it missed.

Why do you think it is so important that some portion of his money is invested in the Caymans, when it is clear it is invested through American firms (adding to the American economy), it is above board... And he pays the taxes he is legally required to pay on its return?

I put in "the effort" because Yurt was so adament about it. If you read back a few pages, he's repeating questions about it, with his usual "where is Onceler" routine. His reading comprehension just bugs me; what can I say.

As for you, this is becoming a tired pattern. How many times do you have to mischaracterize what I say, or jump in w/ some knee-jerk response because you think you need to defend some rightie?

It's annoying.

Which "rightie" was I defending? I came in, and read about four posts, two of which were you telling people what it is "all about"...

So I asked you why you thought it was important. To which you became defensive and acted like a fourteen year old who was caught saying something stupid.

Why do you think it is so important? I'd also like to know why you think it is so important that I never ask you any question so you go into immediate hack attack mode?

Why do I think what is important? I don't think it's important where Romney "parks" his money, and have said so repeatedly. I could care less.

If you took the time to read before knee-jerking all over the place, you'd realize that. Spare me your 'hack attack' projection. I didn't "say something stupid"....you did.

Okay... So, I read through the thread, all 187 posts, paying particular attention to yours. I didn't find even one post with you saying that it was unimportant where he parks his money, but there were many with you saying that it was what it was "all about". (It's possible I missed a few, but I'm not going to read every single post in the thread...)

Now, why is that what it is "all about"? Why is it important?

The OP isn't about him having his money; it's about where he parks his money, which is in a place that doesn't add to the American economy.

Personally, this does not bother me - it's symbolic sort of BS. However, it's not bashing him just for being rich, which is something almost everyone in politics at that level is.

STY is the only one I see who laments that we are always electing rich people, because they tend to look out for rich interests. There is probably some truth to that, but that's a pretty non-partisan critique. It has nothing to do w/ saying it's "bad" that Mitt is wealthy.

Here you go, Damo. More proof that you have trouble reading.

Here's another, Damo. Guess you missed this one too.

Yup.

As I said 187 posts were a bit much to pay that much attention to. This is basically what I needed to know. If you care so little why is it so important that it is what others think it is "all about"?

Yurt made it a big deal, not me.

But, since you're asking, it does bother me a bit that whenever a liberal criticizes a corporation for a specific action, they are portrayed as "against corporations & profit." Similarly, whenever a rich guy is criticized for a specific action, as the OP is doing, they are "against wealth" and saying it's "bad."

Which is what Yurt said. It's just inaccurate. I may not agree w/ the OP, but that doesn't give others a license to misrepresent what it's saying.

Interesting.

Back in the day, women in TV shows were depicted as constantly frightened and in need of a man's strong hand to keep them from going into panic. Women's groups suggested that the prevalent and constant depiction was a negative stereotype. Do you think that such a constant drumming could be seen as the same type of thing, basically an attempt to associate a negative "feeling" with "rich" so that people will be better set to be fed even more divisive language?

It's wonderful how frantic you are about this. 3 posts in a row - and a wiki search to boot.

I said it's not about him having money - it's about where he parks his money. And it is.

Ooooops.

wow. so proving to you it is about money, by using cites, is "frantic". apparently you don't like facts. you haven't countered one of those 3 posts that prove it is about money.

why is that? why don't take apart each post and show why the post is wrong.....i bet you can't. i bet you will simply give your conclusory opinion and try to pass it off as fact instead of actually debating as i did. you can't answer a single question i posed because you know that to do so will make you look stupid.

cue ad homs/opinion only..................

bush is worth over a hundred million dollars? what is your point btw?

Read your post, which I responded to, until the point sinks in.

Maybe this will help, he is not breaking the law just using avenues to avoid tax available to him because of his vast wealth. The charge is rank hypocrisy not illegality.

Actually that Yahoo article is incorrect when it states Romney has been paying a far lower percentage on his taxes than most Americans. They are saying Romney is paying an effective rate of 15% on his taxes. An effective rate is different than a marginal rate and that's where people get confused. Most Americans have lower than a 15% effective rate. This business columnist from the SF Chronicle explains it well here.

ok...are you claiming dems actually complained about kerry's wealth?

I don't know if they did or didn't and I didn't complain about either man. I do remember repubs trying to claim that Kerry had the Heinz fortune, and I posted copies of tax returns and other info showing that John's and Teresa's money was kept separate.

And one site I looked at has Kerry's net worth at $194 million and Romney's at $250 million.
