Leroy Gingrich was cashing hundreds of thousands of dollars in checks from Freddy Mac to offer "strategic advice" as "an historian" who did't lobby any Senate Republicans whatsoever.

And for those actually interested, check out the Federal Housing Finance Reform Act of 2005 (sponsored by Republican Rep. Richard Baker), which passed the House and stalled in the Senate and the Federal Housing Finance Reform Act of 2007 (sponsored by GASP! Barney Frank and co-sponsored by Richard Baker), which also passed in the House and stalled in the Senate. The problem was the Senate, under the leadership of both parties.
