Texas Teenager Mistakenly Deported to Columbia

That is some pretty bad luck that she conjured up such a lousy false name. Perhaps when she turns 18, she'll buy a winning lottery ticket.

They finally featured the story on the local news and some new info came to light.

Everyone had already heard how she gave the authorities a false name when arrested for theft.

Apparently after being told her name came back showing her to be from Columbia, the girl CONTINUED to claim she was who she first claimed. She also told ICE authorities she was a Columbian national and didn't change her story until she was in Columbia.

I'm just going on what the news reported, but if that is true, she's got no one to blame but herself.

so you think that ICE has no blame in this whatsoever?

you're right, the government never does bad things to white people. white people are the perfect government citizens and the government always does the best for them.
Yurt....it's not the government that does bad things to people of color. It's the white people in government who have a sad history of doing bad things to people of color.

WTF are you talking about? do you know how many cities have BLACK council members/assembly members/mayors and that government STILL does bad shit to black people?????

when did you become such a loon?

The girl lied...continually...FOR OVER A YEAR.

Do you believe she should take ANY responsibility for what has happened to her?

Yes, she should. But what happened to her should not have happened to her in any sane country under any circumstances. Deportation to Columbia should not be a possible result.

???....it would seem to be a logical result for someone who pretended she was from Columbia, pretended she was a person who was a wanted criminal IN Columbia, and pretended she was someone who was in this country illegally.......

I suspect that she originally thought it was going to be cool to go to Columbia, but it turned out to be worse than she expected.....

It's not my job to come up with solutions. I imagine someone at ICE or DHS could come up with a way to ensure that the person being deported is a person that ought to be deported, not a troubled 14 year old runaway American citizen.

so you're just an armchair complain warrior

got it

what are they supposed to do, a DNA test? according to zappa she maintained the lie for over a year. there was nothing they could do except deport her and she still maintained the lie in columbia.

No, I'm just a guy that thinks that troubled 14 year old American citizens (that don't speak a lick of Spanish, mind you) that run away from home shouldn't be deported even if they lie about who they are and that the people in charge of deporting people ought to ensure that they don't deport 14 year old American citizens.

Your comment that there was nothing they could but deport her is the stupidest fucking thing I've read on the subject. Congrats.
