You cant say Washington is responsable for Bush's push to lower taxes at the same time as leading us into a war, the two are incompatable and have never been done untill Bush did it. Now we are suffering the result.

Funny, Bush's mess is a result of the 42 presidents before him, but the situation we are currently in is all President Obama's fault anyone who blames Bush is wrong.

And notice how instead Obama has determined to dig the hole deeper. Recession was over in March 2009, before Obama had a chance to implement anything. Recessions recover by themselves. They are market corrections. Our government has done nothing but prolong the economic downturn and shift as much of the pain to the future generation that will be saddled with the debt created to alleviate our pain.
 
you stand in support of the OP, yes? obviously we've had more than just this one war, so obviously more than just one president has continually led us down the path of spending like a drunken sailor. To arbitrarily pin our entire economic situation on the single decision by bush shows you to be nothing more than a hack apologist who hates fiscal conservatism. And yes, washington is responsible. the constitution gives CONGRESS the strings to the purse, not the president.

your ignorance concerning the inner workings of washington and economics is why we are suffering the result.

I generally vote third party. I voted for the Constitution Party candidate in 2004 and had I been able to vote in 2000 (I was 16), I would have voted for Browne. In 2012, I will probably vote for Johnson if he runs on the LP ticket.

Nor does monetary spending account for the increases in the literal size of government and the increased scope of government powers, authority and regulations which occurred during both Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush's Presidency which were, again, the largest increases in the scope and size of government and its powers in the last 60 years.

This is a topic in with Repelicans are hypocritical as hell. The say one thing and then do the opposite in spades. If you truly believe that the Republicans are the party of small government then you are a blind partisan fool cause the facts show other wise. Repelicans abuse power more frequently, have spent money with far more wreckless abandon, have had an irresponsible foriegn policy based on military adventurism that has grossly over reached our nations resources and created for the US enemies we should have never had and made US citizens targets, instead of doing the opposite, and making us safer and they have used Government to artificially redistribute our nations vast wealth into the hands of a handfull of people while allowing vast swaths of our country side to stagnate economically while fighting any effort to invest money in rehabilitating our nations infrastructure while spending trillions of dollars in developing the infrastructure of third world nations where they want to build military bases we don't fucking need!

In other words Republicans have become utterly incapable of governing responsibly, competently or in a manner that ever remotely represents the interest of the People and as a former Republican I laugh my ass off at the moron social conservatives who we have cynically brain washed into rubber stamping just about any asinine idea we can come up with based on the lie that were going to protect them from guns, gays and abortion, when we had no honest intentions to do anything what so ever about those issues.

I can remember when I was an active Republican and working in the party at a local level how we used to laugh and laugh and laugh at what moron social conservatives are and just how easy it was to manipulate the fools into voting for shit that would hurt them....but we promised to protect them from gay marriage and abortion clinics! LOL LOL LOL I have to admit.....that was great fun manipulating those idiots. The really funny thing is that Repelicans have been openly manipulating these morons for over 30 years now and they still haven't caught on....The're the biggest single group of ignorant morons in the nation and they deserve all the bad things that have been happening to them for being such damned fools.

Got anything to support that assertion? Based upon spending as a percent of gdp, the first two years of Obama has outdone them all.

meanwhile, it's unavoidable fact that the federal deficit under Obama is larger, after three years than it was under Bush in eight years.....if he hasn't already, undoubtedly he will surpass both Bush and Reagan with Bush 1 thrown in by the time he finishes his only term in office.......

Unlike you, I actually have been to Republican meetings in my county and they're good people. They're misguided, but they're not evil.

He's probably been to precinct meetings. Precincts in WA (mine is 32-1056) typically have meetings in February, of which I attended in 2004, 2006, 2007, and 2008. I also attended District in 2004 and 2008, and County in 2004. My College Republicans had some active students running it in 2008, so my college also hosted the 2008 WA CR convention in 2008 (kind of funny having students from UW and WSU having to come all the way to my campus).

I'm sure Brent's story in similar.
