Los Angeles, CA (AP) — The city of Los Angeles is weighing a lawsuit against Occupy LA protesters to recoup financial damages sustained during the two-month encampment.
William Carter, chief deputy for city attorney Carmen Trutanich, tells the Los Angeles Times the city is “contemplating any and all of its options.”
A report released Friday estimated the encampment on the City Hall lawn cost the budget-strapped city at least $2.3 million not including the cost to restore the lawn to its original condition.
Police broke up the camp last month and arrested nearly 300 people. An estimated $1.6 million was spent on police overtime.

a state may not charge a license, FEE, or tax for the exericise of a right protected by the constitution. Murcock v. pennsylvania

I wonder, if we ever get invaded, can they just say they're protesting big government, and it'll all be ok?

Let's look at the numbers again, the nice OWS people cost the city of LA 3,900,000$ I could have written it out but all those 0's make a better statement. I wonder how many rich people's tax evasions they equaled?

They aren't being considered to be charged a fee for protesting; but they may charge a fee, for the problems that were caused.

You acted like they were being charged with a crime.
You can be taken to court if you don't pay your HOA fees; but does that make you a criminal?
