What Jesus illuminated was that HE was the promised one. That the Pharisees idea of who that would be was wrong. They wanted another David in type. Christ's message to them was that his conquest was over death not territories. His Kingdom was heavenly, not earthly. That the Jewish leaders of his day missed that does not make what he taught different...what he taught was that he was the promised one. As to liturgy and form of worship? These are different arguments altogether- though the book of Hebrews thoroughly deals with Jewish worship and its significance on the historical plan of salvation and the need of a savior.

He preached the fulfillment of God's plan. Everything in the Law and the Prophets pointed to the Messiah. They all knew a Messiah was coming. Some didn't recognize him, some did, and it's the same since.
