A must read...

Wait, stop there.

Where did I say that you could?

My statement:

humans don't need animal protein. You can get all of the protein you need from things like nuts
Ummmm maybe I should have said "plant sourced protien" instead of "vegetabe". You cannot get complete protiens from nuts.

This is reminding me of this poster we used to have here - I am not even going to say his name because it could be a jinx and make him come back! He was a righty, and he used to get insane because Damo is a vegetarian. I mean this guy would go nuts, accusing Damo of not being patriotic and all kinds of crazy shit because he doesn't eat meat. It was hilarious.

Meat is very emotional for some. I understand this.

I did the vegan thing for a few years. It was actually the best I've ever felt, just health-wise. There are definitely loads of non-animal proteins you can get.

But I really missed burgers too much. I loves me a good burger....

It is true, however, that animal proteins are super tasty.

I totally get that most people feel that way. I am a weird case of a vegetarian who was pretty much born that way. I never made a political, ethical, or health decision. I just was grossed out by meat from a very early age. But that's unusual, and that's why I don't ever tell people they should give up meat.

BUT...there's nothing wrong with talking about all of the good, both environmentally, and for your health, that could come from cutting back on meat.

If you decided to eat vegan during the week and have hamburgers on weekends, you'd be getting and delivering almost the same benefits of being 100% vegan.

No one has to be pure. I'm a liberal, I don't even like purity!

I'm sorry, I know that it feels right for meat-eaters to believe that you can't get all of the proteins you need without animal protein. But it just isn't true. It just isn't.
Ehhh you can go to that trouble to do that level of planning to make sure your vegetarian diet has an adequate variety of amino acids so that you have a complete source of protiens.....but it's just a hell of lot easier to have a glass of milk or eat an egg or two and you have the advantage of obtaining your B vitamins too.

Having said that....I LIKE EATING MEAT....It tastes Gooooooood! :)

zactly! There also of better quality so you need less of them. Problem is.....we tend to over do it with 16 oz ribeyes and whole racks of ribs.......and giant hambrugers grilled to perfection and smothered in cheese and bacon (drool) and fried chicken marinated in butter milk and fried to crispy perfection in lard and butter...........(Oh dear lord help me!)

I think it's some what inate for many women. I think mean crave protien as they, in general, have a greater need for it since they carry more muscle mass. In most cases.

Now I have no problem with that. Like I said earlier the average American eats far to much protien and that is indeed unhealthy........but let me splurge every once in a while with out feeling guilty about it. Let me got to Hoggies at least once a month with out paying pennance for gods sake!!

I think it's because they are blood-thirsty psychopaths hopped up on testosterone!

(sorry mott, I have to give the righties something, they need to believe I hate men)

SF likes it. All those bossy, arrogant, egomaniac righty men do. There's nothing they like better than when a woman gets firm with them, trust me Mott. LOL

Eh, I was just having some fun with him.
Yea.....I knew there was a reason he called himself "Super Freak". :whip:
