A must read...

DH is a great poster. If I were putting together a liberal debate team, he'd be one of my first five picks. On my old board some of the guys posted who they would pick for their debate team, and who they would pick for cheerleaders. It turned out to be both funny and revealing.

Definitely DH would be one of my top picks though. Don't fret SF, I am certain you'd get picked for the conservative team.

I would agree. If you wanted someone to debate for the left wing he would be great. The point is that he was trying to completely dismiss the article based on the political leanings of the person who wrote it rather than on the actual content of the article. He also stated we should ignore those who were hacks of one party or another. Which is why I turned it around on him as he is a complete left wing hack.

For those who actually wish to discuss the topic rather than stamp their feet and throw a tantrum like Dung... I pose the following questions...

1) Is it smart to use food for energy production when it is highly inefficient AND people are starving in other parts of the world?

2) Is it smart to complain about the environmental protections on oil production HERE, when the alternative is to let someone else produce our oil/nat gas with us having NO control over the environmental consequences of that production?

3) Is it smart to ship our money overseas to foreign producers of oil and nat gas when that money could stay IN the US and benefit our economy?

4) Is it smart to ship jobs overseas when we could be putting people HERE to work?

If done properly, it would have been the best thing he could have done for the economy. Building out the energy infrastructure across the board. Oil, Nat Gas, Alt Energy. Ignoring the first two while trying to focus solely on the third is absurd. There is NO way alt energy is going to make a substantial impact in energy in the next 10 years. We have to have all three.

Add reduction in use and you got it... An all out effort, ignoring no possability.

Did you see the 60 Minutes episode of gas in the water from fracking? As far as I know the company(s) deny it's their fault. That's the trouble with allowing companies to explore/drill/frack, etc. Sometimes it takes 20 years before things like this are settled what with the lawyers dragging it out. Can anyone blame the residents of a community saying, "No"?

Can I play?

Do I get a prize? ;)

I am on record on this site that one of the main things we as a country need to look at is working toward energy independence. This goes along with my "Made In Amercia" thread the other day. I really think the points that you've highlighted from the article are spot on.

Of course you can play.

Your prize... not looking like a complete partisan schmuck like Dung just did.

LOL... and again... do we have greater control of environmental standards HERE or in Iran/Venezuela/Canuckistani?

Interesting. I would be a cheerleader in most subjects. There are subjects I could debate, but on most I would cheerleader. I am realistic about myself. I don't suffer from a super ego. I did, lord mercy, until I turned 40, then I slowly started to mellow.

Now, back to the thread topic. Cheerleaders ome times derail threads.

Those poor people, though the cry is collateral damages, for the greater good. It is alwYs the boardroom conclusion, until it hits their own back yards. It will eventually, not for us, but our children's children.

It's a little more than political leanings w/ Hanson. The guy really is in a league of his own when it comes to hackery. I'm someone who can listen to Savage or Limbaugh or whoever, but I really can't read Hanson anymore. He's that bad.

That said, I do support much more expanded domestic drilling & natural gas production & all that. So it's a very conflicting thread for me. I think I'll just leave it.

Leaving it is a good idea if all you are going to do is harp on the author and not the content of the article.
