That sounds about right. Back when I was single I bought a 1200 sq. ft. house around here for $80K in the mid 90's and sold it 5 years later for $90K when I moved to North Carolina. A friend of mine in San Francisco had a similiar size and quality house and he paid $400,000 for it. Having said that I'd probably rather live in SF then Cowtown.

Cali is over rated. For 1 mill you can live a middle class life style in Cali.......or you can buy a palatial home on Lake Murry, SC and buy a vacation home in Belize and live the good life.

My retirement plans are complicated by the fact that my wife is younger then me and has her own career. Since she works in hotel management we're thinking she can get a general management position at a hotel in some resort location after I retire. We're thinking something like Savannah, GA or Charleston, SC....both great cities, not to expensive and not to many knuckle draggers.
 
Well I'm hoping for a couple more gran kids here. Especially the two wrestlers, one is now a coach. There kids will have to be gym rats.
