Gingrich gets important endorsement.

You truly are a moron.

Why are you so ignorant?

What you say means nothing. You have no credibility here and everyone knows it. You're probably some city dweeb living in a one room apartment or in your mother's basement.

He jokes about having a debate. I suppose he doesn't mind debating because if he says anything that lowers his popularity all he has to do is condemn anyone who reports it. Or he could always accuse Obama of asking trick questions. After all, he's done both in the past with interviewers. Sort of a "throw it against the wall and see what happens" tactic. He has criticized Obama's decisions in one breath and when asked follow-up questions said he couldn't comment as he wasn't privy to the information the President had.

It's too bad politicians can't quietly retire or gracefully move in to the background. It seems like a Republican problem. Newt was respected, if not liked, by most people and he's slowly losing the respect he built up over the years. In a way it's similar to John McCain. Republicans and Democrats alike respected John McCain even if some didn't agree with his politics. However, during the 2008 campaign McCain threw away his credibility and reputation.

They run on their reputation, built up over decades, to end up throwing it all away. I wonder if they know at the time or whether they only realize after it's all over.

Your stories are always so far past it's incredible... Nobody posts more incorrect stuff than Tom...

Fuck me rigid, nobody exaggerates as much as you do. There are some bona fide nutters on this site and for you to single me out is just incredible, you have even given succour to ID, who is as close to unhinged as you're likely to get anywhere.

Holy shit, there is so much about Gingrich that is wrong, it is difficult to know where to start. I am very happy for the reptile, yes I know that newts are not reptiles, to run as he will be destroyed with any luck. Regarding his daughter, her mother has a different side to the hospital events. Obviously you have nailed your colours to the mast and abandoned any attempt at impartiality. His daughter was only thirteen in 1980 and one has to wonder how much she really knew about the events at the time. In the end, it boils down to who you believe. By the way, I am not even pretending to be impartial on this matter. If there is anybody that deserves to be brought down by the media, it is him.

“He can say that we had been talking about [a divorce] for 10 years, but the truth is that it came as a complete surprise,” says Jackie Gingrich, in a telephone interview from Carrollton. “He’s a great wordsmith … He walked out in the spring of 1980 and I returned to Georgia. By September, I went into the hospital for my third surgery. The two girls came to see me, and said Daddy is downstairs and could he come up? When he got there, he wanted to discuss the terms of the divorce while I was recovering from the surgery … To say I gave up a lot for the marriage is the understatement of the year.”

I suppose if that was the only event in his life I guess he could be forgiven. He was accused of using tax-deductible charitable donations to fund a non-charitable college course that he taught, and of giving false information about this to the House Ethics Committee. In a 395-28 vote, the House ordered Gingrich to pay an unprecedented $300,000 penalty as part of a settlement to avoid a full hearing. That in itself ought to be enough to preclude him from high office.[SUP]

(Excerpt) Gingrich has been married three times. In 1962, he married Jackie Battley, his former high school geometry teacher, when he was 19 years old and she was 26…….Six months after the divorce from Battley was final, Gingrich wed Marianne Ginther in 1981. In the mid-1990s, Gingrich began an affair with House of Representatives staffer Callista Bisek, who is 23 years his junior. They continued their affair during the Lewinsky scandal, when Gingrich became a leader of the investigation of President Clinton for perjury and obstruction of justice in connection with his alleged affairs…..In a 2011 interview with David Brody of the Christian Broadcasting Network Gingrich addressed his past infidelities by saying, "There's no question at times in my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate.”(End)

That last sentence has to be the most outrageous thing I’ve read in a long time. What kind of convoluted, absurd excuse is “I was driven by how passionately I felt about my country” when used to explain why someone had an affair? I can picture him whispering ‘sweet-nothings’ to Bisek, “I’m doing this for my country.”

Should Obama and Gingrich have a debate perhaps Obama can ask Newt how he intends to deal with the passionate feelings which must inevitably accompany the position of Presidency.

One final thought. Considering Newt was the leader of the investigation concerning President Clinton's indiscretions I wonder if he ever heard anyone say, "The Speaker doth protest too much."

It's only a big deal for you because he's a republican. Me thinks you doth protest too much.

It's the excuse. Republicans espouse hard work and family values while saying hard work leads to infidelity. Surely even you can see the absurdity.

Democrats don't espouse hard work and family values? Hey lookie here...........We finally have an honest liberal.

You shouldn't act out on the internet, DY. It's very unbecoming. :(

Here is another charming story about him, it may be wrong but if it is you have to wonder what he has done to make so many enemies.

One former aide describes approaching a car with Gingrich’s daughters in hand, only to find the candidate with a woman, her head buried in his lap. The aide quickly turned and led the girls away. Another former friend maintains that Gingrich repeatedly made sexual advances to her when her husband was out of town. On one occasion, he visited under the guise of comforting her after the death of a relative, and instead tried to seduce her. In certain circles in the mid-1970s, Gingrich was developing a reputation as a ladies’ man.
