I DO NOT CARE, AS LONG AS YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT WORD I INTENDED! IN FACT I REJECT THE IDEA THAT THERE IS A CORRECT/INCORRECT WAY TO SPELL.

I'm not trying to start an argument here but to me this describes the liberal mindset that I am most at odds with. The idea that 'there are no rules and if there are there is no need for me to follow them because they are uneccessary or don't apply to me.' Several of the ideas born of liberalism I do agree with, but if in life we don't learn to play by the rules most of us aren't going to be successful. That is why many find themselves in trouble with the law and/or in prison. And no Jarod, I'm not picking on you for your spelling here. I wouldn't propose that the spelling police come and incarcerate you. :) The point is that you could substitute almost any word in for "TO SPELL" in the quote and you have how so many on the left (and maybe even the right, I really don't know) feel about all of life. I get discouraged when people don't want to follow "rules" simply because they don't like them. All that being said, I am certainly not against working to change the rules that you don't like....just conform to what are there while you work for change. This rant has nothing really to do with spelling, just spouted what hit me with the quote.

That is a liberal idea? I just thought it was criminals who thought the rules didn't apply to them, like the guys who ran Enron.

Yes...lay-off as many employees as you can, squeeze the rest till they squeak, increase profits! That's what we need -someone who knows how to put the American people out of work. Cause we haven't had enough of that yet!

I am going to vote for him too. I like his smile. It's colgate-white. Very pretty.

i guess we can put you in the column of someone that does NOT know how to run a business.

Not necessarily....and I did try to qualify that with this sentence:

The point is that you could substitute almost any word in for "TO SPELL" in the quote and you have how so many on the left (and maybe even the right, I really don't know) feel about all of life.

I was really ranting but it does seem that more and more people don't like rules. Laws against drugs - attitude of many is I don't like 'em and am not going to follow them. Laws against guns - same attitude applies. Laws about something as simple as wearing a seatbelt - many have the same attitude. Speed limit....same thing. Laws against whatever Enron was guilty of .... again, same attitude. So it is not necessarily just a "liberal" mindset as my opening sentence would lead folks to believe. Like I said, it was just a rant as to how the whole spelling conversation hit me at the time.

I understand your point, and I agree you are not picking on my spelling. I disagree with your point to some extent however. You are confusing rules with laws. Spelling and grammer rules are not set up by elected officials or any such thing, they are arbitarary rules set up by society and are artifically define right from wrong based on nothing other than some acedemic's idea of what should be. I agree that sometimes not following such rules can prohibit you from being successfull in some ways, but you have to be smart about when its okay to break the rules of convention and when its not. TO me at least part of the essence of freedom is to be allowed to refuse to follow societial norms. Spelling included. As I said above, I ensure when I file papers with the Court the spelling is correct, when I write for enjoyment I allow a lot more freedom and sometimes expression than those rules provide for. Personally I belive when considering these types of rules, there is a lot more grey than right and wrong allow for.

When you are discussing breaking LAWS that are passed by elected officials, I belive that is a totally different thing.

Obama gets my vote, unlike most conservatiaves at least he knows how to make a government work.

This is the most dysfunctional government we have seen in the past 50 years. He has no clue what to do. He cannot even get his OWN party to pass a simple budget. All he does is run around the country telling everyone how it is everyone else's fault.

President Obama has my vote, without him I would not have health insurance.

I thought it was only Republicans and conservative right-wingers who voted based on what was best for them and it was Democrats and liberals who voted based on what was best for the country?

Jarod is just making up a line of bullshit so that he can sing his praises of Obamacare.

In this situation its both what is best for me and what is best for the country. People like me should be elegable for health insurance.

I provided a cite to the web cite where I got my insurance. You just dont want to acknoledge anything good a democrat has done, so you call me a liar. you have no basis for that claim.
