Police have been trying to locate 21-year-old Oscar Ortega Hernandez, a mentally ill man from Idaho who authorities say is connected to the incident, which apparently took place on Friday. U.S. Park Police said that before the shooting Ortega had been detained at an abandoned house nearby and had been spending time with the Occupy D.C. protesters.

So the guy is mentally ill yet he still has access to guns, only in America. :palm:
 
The fact that hes spending his time hobnobbing with his friends, the Occupy D.C. protesters, proves he mentally ill......

You can pass all the laws you want to limiting our second amendment right, but you'll never stop murderers and the mentally ill from finding a gun if they want one.

Sure would have been nice if someone at Columbine or in Sweden had a gun on them to stop the murders of innocent kids.

So you think guns should be legally available to anyone? No background checks, licensing, available for ex-cons, those w/ a history of violence, etc. Just buy one like you could buy a pack of gum?

Where do you get the idea that is what I think? Read my post again and show me what made you think that is what I said.

If that's not what you meant, maybe you should answer the question more directly? The assumption seemed to be that laws can't stop murderers or the mentally ill from getting guns. So what is your suggestion? Do you support background checks or not? Do you support some restrictions, or not?

Actually it was Norway not Sweden.

I see. Let me be very clear. Of course not everyone is qualified to own a firearm. We have more than enough laws. My point is very clear and I can't see why you're having a problem unless you are deliberately playing stupid. Anyone who wants a gun to commit a crime or a murder can get one regardless of how many laws you pass.

You're right, Norway. Wouldn't it have been great if someone with the kids carried a firearm to stop the SOB? Self defense and all that stuff........ It's kinda like living out in the country and having you cat declawed. He isn't gonna last long. This is why a lot of us question the common sense of liberals. You want to limit the number of people carrying weapons for self defense and then when innocent people are slaughtered by a crazy idiot you want to make it even harder for us to defend ourselves. Kinda stupid.

I went to a Tea Party last year and about a third of the guys were carrying. Nothing happened. No one got hurt. I can tell you one thing though, if any nut would have started shooting innocent people he would not have made it very far.

Well, that was my original question, which you didn't answer.

It's weird to say someone else is playing stupid when you choose not to directly answer questions. Are we supposed to guess what you think?
