The Preamble is the Founding Fathers' intentions regarding the Constitution's meaning and what they hoped the Constitution would achieve.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Unemployed. Losing homes. Unable to pay a doctor....

Do you think those things contribute to domestic tranquility?
Do you think those things contribute to general welfare on a personal level or for the country as a whole?
Do you think those things are the blessings of liberty?

Do you think? Perhaps we should determine that first.

You should try and avoid conversations about the Constitution, you are too much of a dumbass to understand it, and you don't agree with it anyway. It's what you ultimately want to destroy, or at least, rewrite... you know, when Liberal Socialist Commies take over and all.

The Federalist Papers are a good source to study what the founders intended, and they certainly didn't intend for "general welfare" to include some of the insanity of the left. The same is true with domestic tranquility and blessings of liberty... those are interpreted entirely different from how the founding fathers envisioned, if you read the Federalist Papers... but you are far too stupid for such things... it's reading comprehension that is way above your intellectual capability, and so you rely on other Liberal Commies to tell you what you think. That's how you come up with this crap.
 
Because of the scenario you just described, dumbass! Their reputation is on the line! Any company that produces a product which requires installation in your home, is going to have "authorized dealers" who are qualified to install the product to the standards set by the manufacturer.

Then again, it is some fly-by-night operation that just doesn't give a shit about their reputation, and you shouldn't have attended, you should have lodged a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Again, I ask you, WHO SPONSORED THIS HOME SHOW? That's the FIRST entity you have a legitimate complaint with! I've been involved with all kinds of trade fairs and expos, and not a single one has ever just let in anyone who paid for space, you have to show credentials, you have to be bonded, licensed and legitimate. There is too much at stake with regard to the reputation of the host, for this not to be the case.

No, I don't understand. I know of dozens of contractors who do business everyday, and they ALL have to be bonded! If you work on someone's home, you have to be, or you won't get jobs. If I am looking for someone to do some work on my home, that is the FIRST question I ask them... are you bonded... 100% of the time, if they have a number in the phone book, they ARE!

And no, you simply CAN'T just start fixing roofs, cutting hair, or serving food, without meeting certain standards and requirements, it isn't realistic, and it's just not the case. You must obtain a license to do any of these things, and that requires being bonded. In addition, if you serve food, you must pass health inspections as well... if you install roofs, they must adhere to building codes... we have an entire system for all of these things... like I said, it's 2011, not 1911.

The next time you go for a hair cut ask the person what, exactly, was involved in getting the "permit". Did they have to produce a school transcript or certificate? Were they given a test? Or was it simply a matter of paying a fee.

Of course contractors have to adhere to building codes and when it's found out they didn't they go bankrupt. Got it! I had an electrical upgrade done on my home when I purchased it. New breaker box, electrical wires run in the basement and exterior. Ceiling light fixtures installed. Etc.

When finished the electrician showed me he installed a ground fault outlet for the fish pond. "After the inspector shows up you can remove it and install a regular receptacle as these tend to trip off due to moisture, etc", he informed me. It's been 10 years and no inspector has shown up. And, yes, I changed the outlet a month or so later and the fish are happy. :)

Again, you need to re-read what I posted and stop making idiotic statements about what you THINK I said. You're not retarded, are you? I ask that because, I specifically said, the FIRST thing I do, is ask if someone is bonded! Now why in God's name, would I ask this, if I thought it was a 'requirement' for them to have a business? It makes NO rational sense that I would, can you comprehend rationality? I never said that people HAVE to be bonded, but I would think, in order to participate in any sponsored "Home Fair" of any legitimacy whatsoever, it would be a prerequisite. There are very few "non-bonded" contractors out there, and they routinely struggle to find work. An even fewer number are able to sustain any kind of reputable business, it just doesn't happen in the real world. It may happen in Liberal La-la Land, I don't know... but out here in reality, home contractors are usually bonded and licensed, or they don't have businesses or participate in "Home Fairs!"

Dixie, before accusing other people of being boring and predictable I strongly suggest you re-read some of your own posts. Never have I seen responses to various truths that are more hidebound in predictable dogma than those from you. You really are impossible. Now, were it to be proven that, in fact, you were a dribbling teen who had just completed 'How to be Intelligent 101' I would accepted some of what you say but it hasn't and I doubt that it ever will.

This is an opinion forum. It presupposes that the participants wish to post their own opinions, NOT the opinions of someone who may know nothing of this strange cyber location.
Over 90% of what I post is drawn from my own knowledge or my own opinion. For some posters the figures are reversed. I don't get it.
You dont enter into a discussion at a bar and keep popping out to google a point! Being right or wrong is the sport and as such we can, or should be able, to accept incorrect ideas and opinions with which we and others disagree.
No one who posts here has ever stood for political office in the country they claim as home, no one's life will be ruined if their opinion is challenged, but there are some who behave as if their very lives depended upon it. We keep seeing the nonsense word 'Cite' used as a challenge. OK, I'll cite. What I say, was said by a bloke in a pub. Citation delivered.

Opinions are like armpits; everyone has them, but most of them stink. This IS a political forum, so when we debate America's problems and how to solve them, we NEED to start with the truth. The words of other people DO add credibility. They reinforce and/or prove an argument. Especially if they are someone who has diligently investigated an issue or has inside information. That ADDS credibility. When David Frum, a Republican, admitted Republicans made a strategic decision at the start of the health care debate: 'to make no deal with the administration. No negotiations, no compromise, nothing. They were going for all the marbles. To hand Obama his Waterloo', it destroys the credibility of Republicans and makes all there claims (death panels, govt takeover) empty and contrived.

Knowledge is not something that magically ascends on you. You need to seek it out. You need to know where to look for it and you need to be able to decide if it is credible.

These issues are important to me, because people's health, well being and their very lives are the stakes. I want my children and grandchildren to live in a country that is civil, compassionate and has a large dose of human capital in our policies, laws and patriotism.

Yes, his opinions are well thought out and methodically expressed.
However, most of the "facts" he thinks about are incorrect.
His resulting assumptions border on insanity,
and he is completely incapable of seeing where he is wrong,
