No, the purpose of govt is not to make life as fair as possible. Giving you a home and health care paid for by the citizens is not a constitutional guarantee. That's just idiotic and typical lefty magical thinking. Do you know what "magical thinking" is?

Then why is it written, "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

Establish, insure, provide, secure. Those are active verbs as opposed to "sit" and "watch" and do nothing.

There's nothing "magical" about it just as there's nothing magical about universal or single payer medical care other social programs.
