the media and the left demonized the tea party and i don't recall any tea party protest turning violent.

The left haven't received thier necessary talking points, regarding the Occurioters, from the Democrat Party yet.

I was in downtown Oakland this morning actually. Got to drive by the encampment for the first time and saw the broken windows and graffiti on the buildings. Even had lunch at the whole foods which had paint thrown on it last night along with windows broken. A bunch of workers out in front trying to repair it while I was there.

There is a touch of irony that is happening in Oakland. New York City I understand. Oakland has one fortune 500 company headquartered there and it is leaving. There are really no big banks in the City. It is mostly small businesses and mom and pops. The City government is very progressive. The Mayor is telling the protesters she's an activist and is one of them. Oakland isn't exactly the home of where these problems being protested took root.

this only furthers my belief that most of the protesters are faux protesters....they are only protesting to be cool. maybe 1% are true protesters.

There are real protesters I'm just saying it is a tad ironic that the protesting is in Oakland. There are also plenty of punks who BART in from places outside of Oakland that come to cause trouble.

Again, fairly unscientific. Generally, the 1% figure is closer to the size of the group that is creating the violence. And many OWS protesters have disavowed the violence; it isn't correct to say that they've been silent on it.

what is your obsession with putting words in people's mouth today? did i say it was scientific? i said it was my BELIEF. most of the protesters are faux protesters or hoodlums like these guys.

where and when have the protesters disavowed the violence? the media and the left has been virtually silent on this. the tea party was demonized and nothing like this ever happened at a tea party event.

there are some real protesters, no doubt. i just believe that most are fake and simply protesting to protest.

All I saw was a cover story on msnbc.com - title of the article was "protesters disavow Oakland violence." There were quotes in the article from those who rejected the violence, as they should. It's counterproductive.

wow...one story

shocking

You said the media & the left were virtually silent. I'm not saying it's a lot, but I haven't scoured the other news outlets, and it was a fairly big story on msnbc.

You also asked where & when they have disavowed it, and I pointed you to a place.

so i can't comment on a crazy political movement....great.

Holy shit, you've started several threads on basically the same subject, why does it bother you so much? I would love to see even a smattering of the same passion directed towards the bastards that caused the economic crisis in the first place.

hey tom, this is a board that is about POLITICS. this movement is political. hopefully you can put two and two together.

i do speak out against those who started this mess, i find your dishonest characterization just another whiny smear. this movement is a joke. as i've repeatedly said, if they want to make change, march on the WH and capital hill.

i would posit that a whopping one story is virtually silent. thanks for proving me right.

Again, it's the only outlet I looked at, and it was on the cover page. I'd wager it's being reported on others (after all, MSNBC is fairly left to begin with). And the article didn't just quote one source.

What's your threshold for something beyond "virtual silence," then? Or do you want to reject anything that comes up, just so it fits neatly into a narrative that you've created?

my threshold would be numerous media outlets. in the AP, reuters etc.... you claim to be a smart guy, i would think this should be a simple concept for you. whenever something minor happened with a tea party protest, it was all over the media. quite the opposite is true with anything OWS.

Why does it bother you so much anyway? New York is nearly 3000 miles from California. As for Oakland, that is just a sideshow.

It's really about 2.5k miles.

New York is about 3k miles from Great Britian
and
California is around 5k miles away.

So why are you commenting?
