why the occupiers will win in one word

Then there's the rent-a-room scam.

There was this long distance truck driver living with a gal and two kids. He was on the road most of the time and rented a cheap, dilapidated room in order to have a mailing address and a storage space. When he returned to town he'd stay with his wife and kids for a few days. Welfare couldn't prove he lived there and, technically, he didn't so they paid as if the woman was a single mom.

Would you happen to have the link to this "tale"; because basically you're saying that he's stupid!!
Why would he need a room and storage, if he was LIVING with his wife and kids.
Plus all the proof that would have been needed, is to have the utilities in both of their names.

What, pray tell, are they going to win? The bonus army wanted their benefits, Ghandi wanted Indian independence. I have no clue what collective goal the wall baggers want other than money.

At the very least they should want tighter banking regulations, including a new version of Glass-Steagall and a few fat cats from Goldman Sachs, Lehman Bros et al to be prosecuted for their role in the banking crisis.

And I want wasps to go away. I'm not outside the fucking zoo with picket signs.

But were you to turn up at the zoo and find a thousand like minded souls, all eager to find a way of eradicating the little beasts your conviction that wasps should not exist might be strengthened and, in time, that one thousand might become one million and then something might be done!

I assume we are talking about the flying kind and not the white anglo saxon protestants??

He didn't want welfare to know he was living with his wife and kids because welfare wouldn't have paid.

When welfare drops by to check on things they look for male clothing and maybe a letter with his name and address on it. He didn't want any evidence of his living there.

As for utility bills the wife could just say they split after they rented the apartment.

PS. There's no link as it was someone who lived in the neighborhood I used to live in.

And they wouldn't go away regardless.

It is why they will lose. No matter how long they occupy anywhere, they will not convince Americans that getting rid of all banks and turning to socialism is the way to go, and that is pretty much what most of those who can actually say why they are there are demanding.

What they might do is touch the consciences of a sufficient number of people so that new laws might be enacted with little opposition or they might persuade some people who DO have the power to stand with them.
Two things are certain.
1. The message they are chanting is the wrong message and, if not changed pdq, will drag the movement down.
2. The world will remember 2011 for the Arab Spring and the action against greed.

He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam’d,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say “To-morrow is Saint Crispian.”
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say “These wounds I had on Crispian’s day.”
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he’ll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day.
.......
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.

Straw man. Gosh....I thought fighting for your fair share of the economic pie is capitalism? How the fuck is that socialism? What the occupiers want is accountability in our system that holds those who commit crimes accountable, not consider them "To big to fail" and subsidize their asses. Hell it's you who are supporting socialism by propping these failures in the banking industry up. It if wasn't for the fact they would have taken most of the American public down the drain with them we would have let the bastards drown. So please tell me Mr. Strawman, why are these white collar criminals so special that they can't be held accountable.

The sad fact is they aren't advocating socialism. The hard cold truth is you are advocating an aristocracy of money and if you're not one of them, you have to take what they give you regardless of your talents, skills and productivity. So keep up with your lame demonizing of people who are fighting for their share of the pie. Anyone who doesn't see the incetious relationship between Wall Street, Investment Banking and the Good ole boy Ivy League clique is a damned fool if you don't think these people should be held accountable for what they did to our economy then you're not only a damned fool but a stupid one too!

Exactly. The problem with the occupiers is that they have not formed a concise political message. The problem with grass roots movements like this is that they lack organization and fail to communicate a clear message that defines the direction of the movement and it's goals. In short the occupiers lack leadership. I sympathize with them. I'm thoroughly disgusted that the people who tanked our economy by gambling away vast sums of money that did not belong to them have not been held accountable and in fact many have been rewarded for their greed and incompetency. Instead of being investigated and the worst offenders prosecuted they have been propped up, subsidized and rewarded by our government due to fear of our economy collapsing. Now that our economy has stablized enough, it's time to hold these creeps accountable!

I've yet to see any consistency from anyone here who supports the wallbaggers on just what they hope to accomplish.
I have to agree with you. This is a grass roots movement doomed to failure if they don't organize some sort of leadership. Though I sympathize with many of their complaints, unless they organize themselves better, the movement will fail.

Must be why they're throwing rocks and bottles; HUH!!

Who's throwing what?

The problems created after 3 conservative administrations in the 1920s are the same problems conservatives have caused after 30 years of conservative ideology from 1980 to 2010. The protesters have the same demands as those during the First Great Republican Depression. Study a little history and you will see that conservative greed (economic policies) always causes the problems that bring people into the street.

The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights. The amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances.

Now who is building that straw man?

They say capitalism has failed, yet you say they are fighting for their "share" of capitalism? They aren't, man.

This movement will either be taken over by the TEA Party dudes who aren't ideologues, or it will die. The ones I hear aren't looking for a "piece of pie" they are looking to eat some other dessert.

And now we have an example of someone that is cheating the American tax payer; but yet the liberals want to complain about the corruption of others.

Are you attempting to say that no bottles and/or rocks have been thrown by protestors?

Do you have a link, for that lost cut and paste you included?

There will always be cheaters. That doesn't justify punishing everyone who happens to be in the same social class. Besides, it's a case of extent. There is a difference between someone ripping off the taxpayer for $1,000/mth compared to another walking away from a failed business collecting millions.

The reason they will win in one word:

Redefine.

As in, they will redefine their goals. It begins with 50 people who think capitalism needs to be scrapped, it ends with far more people that want banks to stop charging money to use your debit card... Victory is theirs!!!11!shiftplusone.

However government corporate cronyism... Still there.

So now you're complaint isn't that anyone is cheating, it's how much the cheating is.

Are you now also asserting that it doesn't matter how many are ripping off the taxpayers for $1,000/mnth; because that amount could actually reach millions.
