Derrick Bird only got away with so many deaths because it's so easy to get lost in the Lake District.

We also have about 5x your population. And last I saw you're regarded as the most violent nation in Western Europe.

The point I'm trying to illustrate is that gun laws have no real effect on violent crime, and even very little effect on gun crime.

Good God, man. The mere mention of the Barrow-in-Furness has chilled me to the bone. The very bone, sir.

I'm a couple of miles outside the national park, in the Eden valley. All of the benefits of sky high house prices, but with a handy motorway to civilisation.

You must be near Appleby, not a good place to be when the travellers descend there once a year. Joking aside, that's a beautiful part of the world and as you say very handy for the M6.

Actually, Wikileaks proved this wrong. 90% of their weapons come through Columbia from Russia and China.

This errant statistic is based on of somewhere close to 30,000 guns found at the scene of crimes, they "allowed" us to look at about 8,000 of them, of those 8,000 90% were from the US... Basically they were picking out ones that they thought we could track and it discounts the weapons they took with them rather than left at the scene as well as those they didn't hand over for any tracking.

It also doesn't account for the guns that were found that were former Mexican Military and sold legally to the Mexican government.
