Again, I would put my money on Rush being smarter, based on his accomplished success. But if you people really want to believe that someone can be a dumb idiot and accomplish what he has in life, so be it! If there were ever a testament to the greatness of American capitalism and freedom, this is it... if some dumb idiot can obtain that kind of fame and fortune and maintain it for 20 years, then ANY IDIOT DUMMY can do it, right?
Poor Motthead... if ONLY it were so simple! Tell me this Einstein, if what you say is true, what has prevented this from happening before? Did these people just suddenly wake up and decide to be greedy and crooked and do all this risky stuff? Did someone just suddenly discover they could get away with this, after all the decades of the market's existence? Was there a magic Easter Bunny going around infecting Wall Streeters with the greed bug under Bush? Maybe Cheney had something to do with all this?
Look, go study up on the events which took place, which led up to the disaster... you will find this all started with Christopher Dodd and Barney Frank, writing legislation to ease mortgage restrictions and make home loans available for low income families. Oh, this was a resoundingly wonderful idea when it was unveiled, and Bush certainly got political mileage out of it, claiming to have put more minorities in their first home than any time in history. Things didn't start to go wrong until people were unable to repay their loans, and a series of companies holding the paper started to tank. AIG, Bear Stearns, Citibank, Bank of America, Freddy and Fanny... This was ultimately the fault of incompetent legislation which 'deregulated' somewhere it shouldn't have, and the original motivations for the idea came from LIBERALS who wanted to help poor people buy houses. You want to now turn around and point your finger at Wall Street, but they were only doing what regulation allowed them to do, and in some cases, what they were directly MANDATED to do, under this legislation. Should some on Wall Street share the responsibility? Perhaps, but that's not what you want to do... you insist we heap ALL the blame on Wall Street, and allow Liberal Democrat politicians who made the mess, to waltz away with rose blossoms trailing from their butts.
Whoa, I distinctly remember John McCain standing on the Senate floor, warning his colleagues that if Dodd-Frank passed, there would be trouble. And the whole entire reason there is an entity known as the "Tea Party" is because of people being unhappy that we spent trillions bailing out white collar companies that were "too big to fail!" So, by ALL means, we're not all for bailouts, and have been quite politically vocal about that.
People who are sick, already HAD access to health care! Just as people who were poor, already had access to low income housing! Health care was the next item on the plate of the Liberals, after getting everyone in a house they couldn't afford, let's give them all free health care! No fucking regard for the consequences, because you can always turn around and blame greedy rich capitalist and republicans for whatever goes wrong.
