MEXICO CITY (AP) -- Police found a woman's decapitated body in a Mexican border city on Saturday, alongside a handwritten sign saying she was killed in retaliation for her postings on a social networking site.

The gruesome killing may be the third so far this month in which people in Nuevo Laredo were killed by a drug cartel for what they said on the internet.

Morelos Canseco, the interior secretary of northern Tamaulipas state, where Nuevo Laredo is located, identified the victim as Marisol Macias Castaneda, a newsroom manager for the Nuevo Laredo newspaper Primera Hora.

The newspaper has not confirmed that title, and an employee of the paper said Macias Castaneda held an administrative post, not a reporting job. The employee was not authorized to be quoted by name.

Mexico's problems are unfathomnable to me. Unfortunately I don't see any ending to this in the near future. As a matter of fact I only see it getting worse.

Yes, Superfreak, please explain.....

Explain my sarcastic comment? I expected to have to explain to the retards like Mott, Jarod and Yurt, but I always thought you were intelligent enough to comprehend sarcasm. (especially with the winking smiley)

But since I was obviously wrong about you.... I was referring to the ATF story that came out a while back that stated the ATF was ordered to allow gun shipments to cross the US/Mexican border. The guns then allegedly ended up in the hands of the drug lords and were allegedly used in executions etc....

So Freakys' assertion that this horrific murder was somehow Obamas' fault is bullshit.

Looks like someone has her period today! Lighten up SF. You'll live longer.

sorry, I should have included the winking smiley... I keep forgetting liberals don't understand sarcasm as they lack a sense of humor.

;) <-----------again.... using sarcasm, the smiley to the left will help you to understand when it is being used.

Now do get your panties out of a bunch and try to contribute something meaningful upon your graceless return. ;) <---- see above for what this smiley denotes.

The Yurt defense - "I was joking and you were too stupid to realize it"?

I heard a story on This American Life the other day which told about a town in Mexico. One gang rolled into town, raised a bunch of hell and robbed with abandon, and the local government was basically powerless to stop them (and, apparently, things are so disorganized as well that the state and federal governments didn't help out). They eventually moved out of the town, and a few days later another gang, the Zetas, came in, and promised to protect the people. So, when the first gang came back, there was a firefight between the two sides, and the government was like "fuck this shit", and left. The point of the story when it was presented was that the Zetas won, they're heroes, etc... etc..., but that's not really my point (and I'm personally not as optimistic about the Zeta's as the story presented them; this gives them a friendly base from which to run their operations. I doubt that catching evil-doers pays their bills.)

The entire situation simply seems surreal from my modern perspective. When on Earth was the last time a gang came in and literally just kicked out the government in America? The Wild Wild West? We take the existence of law and order for granted. Sure, there have been peaks in disorganized crime at some point, but we don't have any experience with the government being so weak, or faced with an alternative violence wielding force so strong, that the local government just falls in the face of it. And the fact that the federal/state governments is apparently too busy with more pressing issues to deal with a triviality like a region of the country falling into anarchy is an especially surreal situation. You don't expect to see stuff like this besides in the history books, or africa.

So, when the first gang came back, there was a firefight between the two sides, and the government essential fled the town. The point of the story when it was presented was the Zetas won, they're heroes, the mayor came back and decided to work with them (and was eventually killed), etc... etc..., but that's not really my point.

still happens today in Chicago. The city is run by hoodlums.
