"If you love me, you've got to help me pass this bill"

The Almighty
As he barnstormed again on Wednesday, Mr. Obama told voters in North Carolina, “If you love me, you’ve got to help me pass this bill,” but even some members of Congress from that state may prefer to stay just friends.

My what a compelling reason to pass a bill. This has to be the most self centered egotistical President in the past 100 years....

Earlier in the week, David Axelrod, the president’s top political adviser, said in an interview with “Good Morning America” that the White House was “not in negotiation to break up” Mr. Obama’s bill, and that Congress would not have an option for an “à la carte menu.”

Congress would not have an option? So now the President is going to tell Congress what they can and cannot pass as legislation? They ought to give good ole Saint Obama the one finger salute. Pass each item separately.

Good luck with your little Obama war.

You are going to need it.

Right, after his speech before congress he got zero bump, as he walks around the nation promoting more of the same that didn't work before his numbers remain in the tank but it is Superfreak that needs "luck" because he is in an "Obama war"...

I think Obama needs a bit of "luck" in his "war on the economy"...

(I'm using the Dune method of argument, if you say it then it means it is "real" and if you call it a war it means it is "bad".)

Sorry, but an observant fellow like you should have noticed by now that I am a plain speaker.
Your attempt to ascribe meaning other than my intended meaning fails.

I didn't "ascribe meaning" I mentioned words you used then made an observation of your style of "argument"...

Superfreak isn't in an "Obama war" that's just a nonsense phrase used in an attempt to defend a desperate plea from a President. It literally makes no sense.

Obama war? Give me a break. You would have started 143 threads on this had Bush said something so unbelievably pathetic.

And I would have mentioned how fricking pathetic it was.

If you love me you'll pass this bill now? They can't fricking pass it, nobody has presented the bill to congress yet. However, there is now a bill with that name... It was written by a republican and Obama likely doesn't want them to pass it...

The bill was introduced two days ago, sponsored by Harry Reid. It is S. 1549.

By the way, here's a transcript for the relevant part of Obama's remarks:

THE PRESIDENT: It would be nice if we could do it all, but we can’t. We’ve got to make choices. That’s what governing is about. And we know what’s right. We know what we have to do to create jobs right now, and create jobs in the future. We know that if we want businesses to start here and stay here and hire here, we’ve got to be able to out-build and out-educate and out-innovate every country on Earth. (Applause.) We’ve got to give workers new skills for new jobs. We’ve got to give our young people a chance to earn a college education. (Applause.) And we’ve got to follow Erv’s example -- we’ve got to start manufacturing and selling more goods around the world stamped with three proud words: “Made in America.” (Applause.) “Made in North Carolina.” “Made in Raleigh.” We need to build an economy that lasts.

And, Raleigh, that starts now.

AUDIENCE MEMBER: I love you, Barack!

THE PRESIDENT: I love you back. (Applause.) But first -- but if you love me -- if you love me, you got to help me pass this bill. (Applause.) If you love me, you got to help me pass this bill. (Applause.) It starts with your help. Democrats and Republicans have supported every kind of proposal that’s in the American Jobs Act in the past. Well, we got to tell them, support it now. That’s where you come in.

Already, you’ve got some Republicans in Washington who have said that some of this stuff may have to wait until the next election.

Something's pathetic, but I'm not sure it's Barack Obama.

"If you love me you've got to help me pass this bill." - Barack Obama aka President Bush III

Yeah, that is pathetic, even in that context.

That's the Senate. Was I correct? Has it been presented to the House? Is there a bill by that name written by a republican in the House?

:)

Tell me the HR number, man.

Uh, you said it hasn't been presented to Congress. It has. The Senate is part of the Congress. And it's a Senate bill, not a House resolution. Thus, it has no HR number. As far I know, there is no bill of that name written by a Republican introduced in the House, but I could be wrong. Got a link?

Sorry, I shortened "house of congress" I forget that you pick nits more than an engineer.

Has it come up for a vote yet? Has Harry scheduled it? Can they "pass this bill now" or is Obama playing on the ignorance of idiots on how the process works?

And here is the link for that bill...

I think the House of Congress should pass the "American Jobs Act" now... The only version they can pass. :D

You Are often incorrect (and never to the benefit of the Democrat) and I call you on it. It isn't picking nits, it is correcting misinformation. And even if you shortened it to "house of congress" you'd still be incorrect.

Congress could pass it today if it really wanted to.

Only if Harry schedules it for a vote. He controls those strings. And Congress can pass an "American Jobs Act" in the House as well... I even gave you a link.

Silly ad homs notwithstanding. Congress cannot "pass it now" until Harry schedules it.
