Define a 'Liberal' or a 'Conservative'

That's not the point. The point is that the state has a vested interest in promoting traditional marriage. It has no vested interest in promoting deviant lifestyles and behaviors.

Traditional marriage has always been in the realm of the church. The state has no vested interest in promoting trad. marriage, by reason of "separation of church and state". Deviant lifestyles and behaviors? One man's ceiling is another man's floor. Who are you to call what people do, which in no way affects you, "deviant", or a "lifestyle". Is your alleged "straight" existence, a "lifestyle"? Sexual orientation isn't a lifestyle, anymore than being born black or white is a lifestyle.

What? No state regulates marriage in their constitution? Are you sure of that?

So much for the whole "We want less gov't interference" or the "Gov't needs to stay out of our business" idea from the far right. I guess that only applies when the gov't interferes in places you don't want them.

The gov't should not be in the marriage scene at all. And the whole "vested interest" is bullshit. The state has a vested interest in raising tax rates, increasing regulation, and limited individual freedoms too. But you'd scream bloody murder if they tried that.

LOL You're having a hissy fit now. I've answered your question, just not in the manner that you want.

It is not a hissy fit in the least. You failed to provide ANY rational reason. You simply stated 'because I say so'. Stating 'the government has a vested interest in traditional marriage and then failing to provide any evidence suggests that you have NONE.

I call it deviant because it is deviant. Look up the definition in your high school statistics book.

you call it deviant because your RELIGION tells you that is what you are to believe. As I said in the beginning, you are injecting YOUR religious beliefs into this and pretending that everyone else must follow what YOU believe.

The state has a vested interest in promoting traditional families, not two deviants who adopt kids or squirt semen up themselves with turkey basters.

That just shows you are a bigot and a homophobe. It does nothing to support your position.

Sorry, but you admitted here that it is a preference, and therefore a chosen lifestyle and not at all similar to being born to parents with kinky hair.

And it is a deviant lifestyle as defined by standard statistical analysis. *shrug*

Its a hissy fit because I have provided a rational reason here. You just don't agree with the rationale. And now you're yelling about it, using all caps, mad and angry because you can't have your way. Then you go on to call me names (bigot and homophobe). :)

You're the one who keeps trying to make this a religious argument. I've never even mentioned religion. You've ignored the fact that statistically, gay behavior is deviant.

Sorry, but you misunderstood. I don't believe homosexuality to be a preference, despite what you may think....I think it's a complex and sometimes difficult conclusion to draw. Who would choose it, based on the shit gays and lesbians receive from society, in general, and at the hands of bigots and homophobes, such as yourself?
Homosexuality is considered by many esteemed authoritarians to be "normal variant", which flies in the face of your conservative view.

Although most medical professionals recognize homosexuality as a normal variant in human sexuality and agree that it is not a physical or mental disorder, homosexuals are at increased risk for several medical conditions, including sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

And then you show your racist hand by making racial pejoratives. Aren't you a "piece of work"? Nothing to see here, but a train wreck.

He isn't "calling you names"....he's calling you what you present yourself to be....a bigot and a homophobe. Duh.
And you're entitled to your assumption, wrong-headed though it may be....just because you believe something to be true, doesn't make it so. Your reality, and no one else's.

Both insults are without basis, therefore the equivalent of name calling.

No I understood perfectly. You said that you preferred to have sex with males instead of females. You made a choice. It was a major mistake in that debate and I will bring it up repeatedly to defeat you in this and future debates.

The fact that it is a risky lifestyle with respect to health merely proves that some folks choose to take risks with their lives.

Kinky hair is not a pejorative. It is a description of they type of hair that is common with folks of African ancestry. You must have confused the term with something else.

Uh, I, myself, determined that you, along with several of your cohorts, were racists, bigots and homophobes, during my first week here. Remember your little tete-a-tete with "the n-word"???? I've found that if it waddles, quacks, and has webbed feet and a duckbill, it isn't a chicken...no matter the protests to the contrary.
Name calling? LOL. You haven't been "name-called" yet.

And you, yourself, have been challenged to prove your accusation here. So far you have failed miserably, and have merely proved that you, yourself are the racist. :)

Quite often in the road to discovery of self, despite mixed and confusing messages from family, society, religion and the like, one experiments, denying reality, attempting to assimilate in what is actually not who the person really is. Some men experiment with the same sex and realize it's not for them, and go on to heterosexual relationships. Sexual orientation, in my estimation is not of choice, but of discovery.
And how ignorant can you be? In today's world, heterosexual sex is as equally risky, given that the HIV/AIDS virus knows no boundaries of sexual orientation, gender, or division.

And don't play games with me. You meant it as a pejorative. Many blacks have naturally curly and quite often straight hair, due to mixed ancestry. My hair is not kinky...but quite a few whites attempt to "kink" their own hair, to assimilate...It was only pejorative according to the context you gave it. Hello?

And you, yourself, have been challenged to prove your accusation here. So far you have failed miserably, and have merely proved that you, yourself are the racist. :)

One doesn't have to prove truth. Truth stands alone, being true, regardless of what you believe about it. I remember you from other forums as "Southern Man", and we've been down this very road before. I determined that you were a racist, a bigot and a homophobe, then, and leopards don't change their spots.

And yet, again, I give you the opportunity to tell me and the board who I'm racist against. It certainly can't be "white people", in general, because I deal with too many of them, on personal and profession bases. Rather, let me tell you....I'm incensed by , repulsed by, inflamed by, whites (and anyone, for that matter) that assume that because of their skin color (generally "white) that they are owed deference, privilege, fealty, and subservience. So, if anyone fits that bill, I might be viewed as racist against that person, not due to race, per se, but how that person views race, and if harbored feelings of superiority because of it.
I define myself, thank you very much.

You're the one who keeps trying to make this a religious argument. I've never even mentioned religion. You've ignored the fact that statistically, gay behavior is deviant.

1) You have not provided a single reason that shows HOW gay marriage makes us weak. Not one. You simply CLAIM it to be so.

2) I use all caps rather than bold for emphasis on the specific word because it is easier than bolding it....

3) you ARE a bigot and a homophobe... you comments have shown that to be true.

4) No, I am not making this a religious issue. YOU are. The only reason you have stated thus far is that the 'government has a vested interest in protecting traditional marriages'. Yet you cannot elaborate on WHY. Yet you cannot demonstrate HOW a gay marriage weakens a 'traditional' marriage.

Both insults are without basis, therefore the equivalent of name calling.

Without basis? LMAO..... your words.... "not two deviants who adopt kids or squirt semen up themselves with turkey basters. "

Calling gay people 'deviants' is your attempt to dehumanize them. To make them a second class citizen. To demean them. That makes you a bigot.

Your comments on 'protecting traditional marriage' while failing to show how a gay marriage would 'weaken' society shows you are simply AFRAID. Since you are afraid of homosexuals, that makes you a homophobe.

SM, you are trying your same tired olf shit here.

You made a claim that the state has a vested interest in traditional marriage. But offer nothing in the way of reasons why gay marriage would not provide the exact same benefits to the state.

You come to a debate site, make statements, and then get pissy when challenged on them. There was a time when you actually debated. Now you want a platform for your narrow-minded monologues. You might try twitter instead. Fewer challenges that make you look cowardly.

No, the fact that you could "get it up" for a female but instead chose a male proves that you simply made a choice- which you already admitted and can't take back.

Many types of ancestries have kinky hair, not just Africans, and as you pointed out some Africans have straight or wavy hair. This disproves your assertion.

1. I don't have to. I have shown that traditional marriage makes society stronger.
2. All caps is the text equivalent of yelling. If you want to emphasize you point, you should italicize it. If you want to emphasize a point in someone else's quote, you should bold it. Don't use the excuse that you are lazy when the fact is that you either don't know English style or are yelling and having a hissy fit.
3. Again the yelling, and again the baseless allegations. The NC State legislature just voted by super-majorities to ban same sex marriage. Are they all bigots and homophobes as well? How about the majority of Californians in 2010? Face it, Freak, you're losing this debate so are trying to use ad-homs to quash it.
4. Again, I have never brought up religion in this thread. You have, along with more baseless allegations and assumptions. :)
