Define a 'Liberal' or a 'Conservative'

A hospital won't 'let him die'. They have to treat him. He can pay it off later (and there are a surprising number of ways to pay, at substantially low rates).

They are required to treat you in the emergency room, but that is all, if you require care beyond the emergency room, that is another story.

That's not my argument. I've stated that traditional marriage is the backbone of the family, which in turn is the backbone of society, so society has an obligation to protect it.

We're still waiting on you to explain in what way EXACTLY will gay marriage affect the "backbone of the family"...

Your blanket statements are nice and all, but they are completely devoid of facts.

Now the douchebag is going to pretend that RANA isn't treating him with respect, so he's going to change her posts too.

Tell us douchebag, is there ANYONE left on these boards whose posts you aren't changing?

Besides your buttbuddies Yurt and DY, that is?

I notice you make an allegation, but then fail to back it up with any specifics...

It is absolutely 100% absurd to say that we don't truly have freedom of choice simply because we can't afford everything the rich can. Are you saying we lack said freedom simply because we cannot buy a personal jet? or a mansion? or because we cannot afford to globe trot?

You have the freedom to go out and bust your ass to earn the money to buy those things, as does everyone else. It doesn't mean we will all succeed, but we each have the opportunity. While the road is certainly going to be harder for an inner city kid than it would be for the Paris Hilton's of the world, the road is still there.

about as much as you mean that society should take care of every individuals basic need.

Show me where Rana has EVER claimed that society should take care of "individuals basic needs"...

You guys like to spread this lie that that is what Liberals want, but it's total nonsense.

Ok, then explain to us. HOW does allowing gay marriage affect the traditional marriage? Does two gay guys getting married somehow deteriorate your family? Does it break the bond between you and your wife? Does it prevent you from raising your kids as you see fit, teaching them your values?

Does a gay couple who is willing to commit to each other with a bond of marriage not strengthen THEIR relationship? Thus making society as a whole stronger?

Please try and control your emotions long enough to discuss the issue at hand...which WASN'T the poor buying private jets...or a mansion...or globe trotting...

We were discussing MEDICAL CARE, and the choices available to the rich are far more numerous than those available to the poor.

When the rich get sick they get whisked into a shiny new hospital with all the latest equipment and best trained Doctors waiting to give them individual care.

When the poor get sick they all go to the same COUNTY RUN HOSPITAL with equipment that's a decade old and FOUR BEDS TO A ROOM and Doctors either just getting started in medicine or on their way out.

Tell me the poor can afford the wonderful treatment they get at those Cancer Treatment Centers of America??

Hardly!

The poor get sent to the county run place where they wait to get their chemo, while the rich get private rooms and mulitple Doctors and nurses, not to mention the support staff at places like the CTCA.

so we should all have the same healthcare and access to the same doctors and hospitals? should all have the right to attend any school we choose?
