The only people using the postal service anymore are advertizers.

i still use snail mail to pay my bills, i do not like paying bills from my account as once you give access to your account the recipient has access to your account as long as you have the account and can decide that you still owe them money and they can debit your account if they so decide without your permission

Well my paycheck for one. Work orders often come in on sat as well, and have to be started if not immediately then on Monday morning. Plus it's always when my VA shit comes for some reason (probably sent out Friday mornin).

As for your paycheck, that's just a matter of rearranging your life just a bit so you've got the money to get you through til Monday.

You get work orders through the snail mail? You have heard of the many modern conveniences we have here in the 21st century, right?

Fax Machine...E-Mail...THE PHONE?

I don't mean to be rude, but those are also reasons people might WANT mail on Saturdays, but they aren't reasons why they NEED mail on Saturday.

They could ban unsolicited mail, but postal workers have lobbied heavily against it. I mean, I feel sorry for those who will lose their jobs once the 60% or so of mail that consists of junk is banned, sure, but this is the broken window fallacy. We shouldn't break windows on purpose to keep more glaziers employed. This is simply something that should've been done long ago.

They shouldn't ban unsolicited mail. They should allow us to opt in or out of it. Some people like receiving the 4 billion coupons and solicitations every year.

I've been trying to think of a situation wherein someone would NEED mail delivered on Saturday because Friday is too soon and Monday is too far away...still can't come up with one...maybe you can.

Today many people receive medications via the mail. That would be the main one I could come up with.

I think we should have buinsess mail delivered M-F (it is truly absurd delivering it on Saturday as they currently do to businesses that are not open). I would deliver residential mail on Mon, Tues, Thurs and Sat.

That's about the closest thing I can come up with also...even though with proper planning, one should be able to plan far enough ahead to be sure to have the necessary meds to get through a weekend.

many businesses are open on saturday as well.

fact is, some do need and rely on saturday mail. it could be cut and they could use private carriers, but it is a fact that some need mail delivered on saturday. we all don't live in zappa's perfect world where all things are perfectly planned all the time. i live in reality and i have in fact needed saturday mail and have had it necessary for others to send me mail on saturday.

Work orders have to be snail mail with certain customers, and since they translate in millions of dollars, they NEED to be on Saturday. Especially in winter when we need to keep shipping channels open.
And thus far I'm not seeing any reason the post office NEEDS to be closed on Saturdays, just that you want it to.

I'm assuming his post was in reference to mine.

if it is, then that makes sense

it still proves he has changed his stance that all republicans walk in lockstep. i don't think he intended to admit he is wrong, but did so by accident. because not all republicans agree with that one republican.

Wipe your chin and link up.

BTW, didn't you say "lock stop" before?
