CHART OF THE DAY: THE SCARIEST JOBS CHART EVER
Joe Weisenthal

It's jobs day, so of course today's CHART OF THE DAY is the latest update of this classic, which we've dubbed The Scariest Jobs Chart Ever.

What the chart (made by Calculated Risk) shows is the trajectory of job losses and gains during the great recession, compared to previous recessions.

So as you can see, the depth of the decline was much worse than any other recession, and what's more, the pace of the recovery is much weaker than in previous ones. Over a year it was looking as though the recovery might be kind of V-Shaped (a really big, wide V), but now it's clear that the comeback won't look anything like the decline. And now the comeback is basically flatlining.

Yeah, scary.

Let me try to help you understand. You have called this thread 'Obama recession is by far the worst since WWII'. Yet most of us understand that we are in a global recession. Global means the world (you see the world is a sphere (almost) or a globe).
It is the responsibility of your government and mine to do their best to soften the blow a recession like this deals to the population. So lets look at what other people are doing, after all they have all been dealt the same hand. Germany? France? UK? Spain? all in the mire. How about further afield? China? suffering but not as bad as you, but they are commie bastards so difficult to draw a comparison. Russia? You would not have the comforts you have in the states were you in Russia. So to call it an Obama recession is incorrect - no matter which side of the party divide you choose.
Next question. If your little pet monkey, G W Bush also known as Dick (the prick) Cheney, was president do you think you would be any better off? Would you honestly entrust your financial future to a man who finds making a sentence difficult, who went to war illegally with a country he could not find on a map and whose policies assisted (not caused) the entire financial downturn of the world.
Be thankful for the Black man, mister. Without him you would be a lot worse off.
Yes, he's black, black, black.
Say it with me now.

Mr Obama is black. He's black and he is smart. He is a smart black guy who the loonies hate because he is a smart black guy. LOL

It is hard to understand how these people end up so ignorant, Obama was dealt a shit hand from the very beginning yet they still think that a grinning jackass like Bush or a rogue like Reagan could have done any better. I have been saying on here for a long time that this is the worst recession since the 30s but there are still some who doubt that.

In reality Obama has lead us into a Depression. But because you cannot understand anything that you have read, we will deem you as just being ignorant or foolish.

You are so dumb always Blaming Whitey.

Obama had powers like a dictator and coulodn't get the job done, Obama has thrown this country into deeper debt while doing nothing to help anyone other than Wall St. bankers.

Sounds like your boy Obama is in over his head and isn't smart enough to figure anything out so he blames Bush.

Hush, truth! LOL

so if it's a global recession, then all the whining about a Bush recession or an inherited mess from Bush was all bullshit??

thanks for clearing that up.

I'll bet the next republican presides over way more growth than comrade Obama. Why? Because they won't attack every industry.

The sad thing is, it was probably preventable......

The Bush administration pushed for significantly increased regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in 2003, but after two years, the regulations passed the House but died in the Senate.

Among the groups denouncing the proposal today were the National Association of Home Builders and Congressional Democrats who fear that tighter regulation of the companies could sharply reduce their commitment to financing low-income and affordable housing.

''These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis,'' said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. ''
Representative Melvin L. Watt, Democrat of North Carolina, agreed.

The result of this incompetence from assholes like Frank.....the meltdown...

Keep revising, some day you may get ti right, but I doubt it.

then who's fault is it and what did Obama inherit? did he inherit a bush recession or a global recession?

He inherited the "Barney Frank Recession," apparently. It's little known that a MA Congressman brought the gov't to its knees on this.

No doubt it was a global recession, but since Bush was completely absent on economic policy, I don't excuse him for it. It's as much Bush's recession as anyone's.

Undeniable FACT....

Timeline shows Bush, McCain warning Dems of financial and housing crisis; meltdown

Why are you bragging about such an egregious failure of leadership? Why was he unable to get a GOP Congress to move on such an impending crisis?

Backs up what I always say. The guy was in hopelessly over his head....
