Dr. Nir Shaviv explains how cosmic rays affect the condensation of water vapor. CLOUD experiment is an important hurdle to have cleared. The warmers can never again say there is no mechanism to explain the forcing they attribute soley to CO2. I said 3 years ago that I thought the warmer models were over-estimating by 30% and it seems the cloud may have turned out to be almost exactly that amount of forcing. Time will tell.

It's funny as I was just reading his blog earlier.

1. I'd like a better source. If this explained all of the perceived increase in temperature conclusively, I imagine I'd be hearing about it through more channels than just global warming denier blogs. God knows how many times you guys have sensationalistically claimed to have completely disproven AGW. How many times are you going to cry wolf before people stop paying attention?

2. If global warming were ever disproven, I would retract my support for it. Let's make this clear, however; I'd still be in the right, and you'd still be an idiot. I applied the correct epistimlogical model and stuck to it, whereas you simply denied repeatedly because you had ideological problems with the concept.

Nir Shaviv is not some random blogger, he is an eminent Physics professor carrying out research in the fields of astrophysics and climate science. The CLOUD experiment has taken over a decade to get the necessary funds, it finally got going in 2006. These are the first results to be published, there will be much more to come. What's important is that CERN is not some fly by night operation and the multinational, multidisciplinary team are not a bunch of cranks.

It pains me at times to be on the same side as Tinfoil as he tends to be too triumphalist and emotional on the subject but then war creates strange bedfellows.

The CLOUD experiment is conducted by an international and interdisciplinary collaboration of scientists from Austria (University of Innsbruck, University of Vienna), Finland (Finnish Meteorological Institute, Helsinki Institute of Physics, University of Eastern Finland, University of Helsinki), Germany (Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt, Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research), Portugal (University of Beira Interior, University of Lisbon), Russia (Lebedev Physical Institute), Switzerland (CERN, Paul Scherrer Institut), the United Kingdom (University of Leeds) and the United States of America (California Institute of Technology).
