A top lawmaker in the Congressional Black Caucus says tea partiers on Capitol Hill would like to see African-Americans hanging from trees and accuses the movement of wishing for a return to the Jim Crow era.

Rep. Andre Carson, a Democrat from Indiana who serves as the CBC’s chief vote counter, said at a CBC event in Miami that some in Congress would “love to see us as second-class citizens” and “some of them in Congress right now of this tea party movement would love to see you and me ... hanging on a tree.”

and some democrats would like that also. there are racist scum in every party, they make up only a minority. this hysteria the left has with 'racism' is insane. i thought the race card was maxed out, but obviously it isn't.

what i believe is likely untrue, is that certain congress people want this. if they are going to level such an accusation at a fellow member of congress, i would think they would have the decorum to have facts instread of blindly fear mongering and smearing people with absolutely zero evidence.
 
It is the worst thing they can think to call anybody, and when it is used it makes even the most disagreeable person pause. However, when misapplied like this it takes away from real issues. This isn't going to get them any converts, the morons that would believe them are already voting Democrat without a pause every time they get to a booth, but it may drive some of the swing voters right away from wherever they want them to go.

Oh, please. How many times have I , personally, seen signs and placards depicting Obama "hanging, in effigy", at tea party rallies????? That wasn't an "out of the box" conclusion the representative drew, but a logical one. That is not "losing one's mind", but dealing with reality. I know the truth hurts, but acceptance is key.

Basically what I say about anybody who would only vote one way with nary a deviation. When it doesn't matter what a person does so long as they are a member of the right "tribe"... Americans often vote without thought when they get into the "we" thought action with a party and start acting tribalistic. You'll see the same thing with sports teams. These are the same people who would "kick some @$$" on some fool for supporting the "other" team at a football game. The "yellow dog" type of voter. (see that yellow dog over there? I'd vote for it if it were a <insert party here>).

I believe you once said that you voted Green Party, etc. You shouldn't be "insulted" about it, it really wouldn't apply to you if such is the case.

I agree with you 100%. I'm sure it's not new but maybe I have just noticed it more recently but the actions or words of one individual tarring an entire group.
 
Carson should be asked to resign and if he doesn't then he should be recalled. This is exactly the crap we need to expel from the congress.
