Are There Any American Companies Manufacturing Televisions?

According to Popular Mechanics you can buy a TV manufactured in the US...

http://www.thinkyourwaytowealth.com/2008/02/16/can-i-actually-buy-a-tv-made-in-the-usa/

The company the article mostly talks about, is now out of business. The direct you to yet another company you never hear of, who will probably be out of business before your warranty runs out... oh, I don't know, they might last 90 days... forgot about how short warranties are these days.

This brings to mind the rantings of AssClown, and his crusade to stop all foreign trade. There are a TON of things we could no longer buy, because they aren't made in the USA anymore. Is everybody ready to not be able to find a TV? Even the example given by PM, relied on parts shipped in from overseas. Under the AssClown Trade Policy, that wouldn't be permitted.

I recently purchased a new flat screen television, and I did not see one television that was made by an American manufacturer or one that was made in America. When I was younger almost all the televisions were made in America.

Bullshit.. Asshole bankers did. Investment Bankers are no different then most compulsive gambleers, except they want the government to bail them out when they lose their stake and want to take everyfucking one else out with them if they don't.

Not only that, there's no one that the leeches and looters in the financial services industry hate more than people who do productive work for a living. Like union tradesmen and service industry workers or skilled professionals like teachers and policemen and college professors.

You want to know who the treasenous bastards are who are selling our country down the drain it's the unproductive leeches and looters in the financial sector who play magic tricks with money but never actually create productive weatlh.

You can ussually tell when one is around when you hear them demonize people who do create productive wealth. Like construction workers, and skilled tradesmen and production workers and steel workers and mill wrights and ship wrights, and people who run businesses on main street not wall street.

Yeah, the transnational corporations wanted them to work for sweat shop wages and when they wouldn't they went to Pakistan, India and China where they could pay people those low wages to make their cheap goods for the American people who run to Walmart until they realized that that is why they lost their jobs, but but it still doesn't stop them from shopping at Walmart, we always act in our worst interest.

· The Uruguay Round of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT)
· The World Trade Organization, which was created to enforce the GATT's rules.
· The proposed Multilateral Agreement on Investment. (MAI)
· The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
· The European Union (EU).
These international trade and investment agreements allow corporations to circumvent the power and authority of national governments and local communities, thus endangering workers’ rights, the environment and democratic political processes.

How much has life for the USA worker changed since these agreements?

Bankers drove manufacturing jobs overseas? No dear Mott, it was the unions. Period. They overvalued unskilled labor to the point that companies shifted production overseas. Your little rant on the financial sector doesn't change that fact.

No, they wanted to pay wages commensurate with the education and skill set needed to do the job. With the ever advancing degree of technological productivity innovations, the jobs required less and less skill to perform.

So now these companies are creating a middle class in countries were labor is still valued appropriately for the skill set.

Yes, there are countries that abuse workers in sweat shops etc... but by and large this is not the case anymore.

Whiny union members just like to point and shout about foreign workers working for $2 an hour or day and say 'SLAVE WAGES' all the while ignoring the fact that cost of living in those countries is also far less and those 'slave wages' are creating a new middle class in those countries. A middle class that can afford to start buying beyond necessities.

Bullshit. It was hack fucking wall street bankers who've sold this country down shit creek and to the lowest bidders in Mexico and China. It should come as no surprise to anyone that little toads like you who have never built anything or have never done anything productive in their lives would be scared shitless by people like tradesmen and professionals who have.

Sorry hack. Unions sold out their constituents. That is why they are a dying breed. Like many things that once served a purpose, they have outlived their usefulness. As I stated, no amount of your rhetoric is going to change the FACT that unions outpriced unskilled labor to the point that companies shifted manufacturing overseas. This began long before DEMOCRAT BILL CLINTON repealed Glass Steagall to allow his (and Obama's) cronies to nearly destroy the nations economy.

Unions are dying. Just like Ohio States chances of winning.

Why? So the world will be safe for unproductive leeches and looters and clerks like you? Not gonna happen pal.

No moron. Because worker protections are now in place. What benefit do unions provide that the workers themselves could not gain? You constantly clamour that the unions provide what 'the market will bare'.... but we both know that is not the case. The best workers lose due to unions. It is the unproductive pieces of shit the unions coerce and protect.

Now do go on telling us how productive you are Mr. Scientist. You don't even believe in the scientific method. You believe shouting 'consensus' is all it takes to prove a theory. You have been shown to be a complete fool for doing so. Seen the latest from CERN yet? You fucking consensus ass clown.

Nah... the unions are a dying breed... we will be rid of their ilk soon enough.

How can any advanced economy compete with the wages levels in China, India and South East Asia, even if US workers were on minimum wages they would still be uncompetitive. Even China is starting to find it difficult to deal with the wage inflation and labour shortages that has been experienced in recent times.

What protections? Is there some kind of eternal guarantee in place, or could Congress change or eliminate those protections - say, to appease management and shareholders and "save jobs"? What happened to worker protections in Wisconsin?

What benefit do unions provide that the workers themselves could not gain?

The ability to bargain collectively and file grievances without fear of reprisal?

You constantly clamour that the unions provide what 'the market will bare'.... but we both know that is not the case.

We do? I don't. Do comparable jobs in a non-union shop have the same compensation as in a union shop?

The best workers lose due to unions.

Cite.

It is the unproductive pieces of shit the unions coerce and protect.

Unions protect all their members in good standing, as far as I know. Union members are a diverse group, like any other. What do you suggest? Means testing? And what "coercion" do unions apply to "unproductive pieces of shit"? How are you defining "unproductive pieces of shit"?

The rest tapers off into unrelated personal attacks, the 'warmer' vendetta, etc.
