Will Irene be Obamas Katrina?

What's that sound? Oh, yeah - no one complaining about the fed response to Irene.

Obama cuts his vacation short, monitors the situation constantly, and FEMA gets universal praise from local officials all along the east coast for their readiness & responsiveness.

That's how it's done...

It's always a bit easier when the hurricane is downgraded before it hits... But yeah. FEMA did a fine job making everybody run away real fast. If it actually was a hurricane, and it was massively damaging, my bet is they would have had a better response than Bush's response to Katrina.

Are you sorry more weren't killed and there wasn't more damage?

right, bush is to blame for everything that happened with the economy, even today. obama has no responsibility, all the responsibility for the economy still rests on bush's shoulders.

show where i wanted the feds to botch irene. if you don't, then that proves you lied. simple really. that you would even accuse someone of that, shows me that you're a sick bastard. that thought never entered my mind, but YOU obviously believe politics are more important than a human life. you're twisted.

Nah - I don't think that. Just going on precedent, and your glee when there is anything at all you can compare to Bush somehow (see: Libya).

No. I'm wondering why people aren't asking the newsies and the government why people were jacked up to panic mode for a tropical storm that barely dropped rain in NYC... But other than that I'm glad nobody was killed. Much like that stupid earthquake panic... still happy nobody died, but if nobody felt it in NYC I don't think we would have heard more than a quick quip in the news.

These idiots think we all care about NYC like they do. We don't.

So, next time there's an odd smell in the city, I can do without hearing about it 24/7...

Don't be so obtuse. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. They got the latter, but they were ready either way.

FEMA doesn't forecast the weather; they use the weather forecast to plan. Forecasters were universally sure that NYC was going to get hit, and hit hard. They didn't.

But it was still a pretty massive storm for Carolina, VA, MD & parts of NJ. Your downplaying is transparent....

Didn't you read what the Dancin' Dalai said?

If Irene had completely devastated NYC he wouldn't have been baying for Obama's blood and blaming him, because he doesn't care about New York.

yes you do. you love obama. he can do wrong. he is not responsible for anything bad in the economy.

and really, comparing irene to katrina.....what a hack.

i see you're still obsessing over your lies about libya. what a sorry life you have.

Are the GOP faithful are hoping for mass destruction so they can get "revenge" for Bushs massive fail in 2005?

They could care less about American lives and property - they proved that with Katrina.

In answer to the question....apparently "not".

Beg to differ with you differ....it's simply a cry for attention. If you notice, most of his OP's are "baiting".

I avoid range wars between posters, so I can't say yay or nay regarding the various OP's by \\(\(\/)/)//, as I haven't read any large number of them.

Yep....add to this a successful military assist in Libya without loss of USA military personnel, and the order that successfully saved Americans from Somali pirates, and the whole neocon/teabagger bullhorn about Obama being in over his head bites the dust.

Poor Yurtle....having a hissy fit because GOP politico makes an ass of himself with the current agenda's mantra.

the "tropical storm" rating for New York didn't come to nigh the 11th hour....so the prep was well within a rational response. WTF did you want, Damo....for the Governor to get on the air and say "Oh, just a tropical storm....everyone come on back!"? Quite a few would have returned to flooding, tree topplings, downed power lines, etc.

As for the Earthquake....since those things are essentially RARE in NYC, a 5.9 scared the shit out of everyone. Normal reaction, normal local media coverage.

Bottom line: shit happens, and it's better to be safe than sorry, so I can live with a little hyperbole.

Hope you made it through with minimal or no damage to your property. I listened to Bloomberg and agree with you that it's better to be safe. He doesn't want to face the blowback Nagin and Blanco got over Katrina.
