During a talk before South Carolina supporters yesterday, the Texas governor compared the civil rights movement to the GOP’s fight for lower corporate taxes and deregulation.



In Rock Hill, South Carolina, a reporter pointed out to Perry that this year also marks the 50th anniversary of a historic sit-in in the town:


PERRY: Listen, America’s gone a long way from the standpoint of civil rights and thank God we have. I mean we’ve gone from a country that made great strides in issues of civil rights. I think we all can be proud of that. And as we go forward, America needs to be about freedom. It needs to be about freedom from overtaxation, freedom from over-litigation, freedom from over-regulation. And Americans regardless of what their cultural or ethnic background is they need to know that they can come to America and you got a chance to have any dream come true because the economic climate is gonna be improved.

Can you show me the quote where he said that they were the same thing? Because I don't see it there.
 
The mere fact that society would be better off with these taxes than without them is all the justification it needs for levying them. The weak teaming up and pulling down the strong and aggressive who wish to exploit them is what separates man from the apes. Counter-aggression against inequality and unfairness is the foundation of society, and without it we would be sitting naked in our own shit right now.

I'll note here that you found not one sentence that says what you want it to say... Not even one.

Actually his response was to underline that we had made great strides in that area and to advance an area he would also like to make strides in, there is nothing in his comments that equate the two things.

Support? I have yet to say I support any of the candidates. All I said was if he gets the nomination he would get my nod over Obama.
