The strangest thing about all this tax talk is the Conservative is generally against higher taxes for the wealthy; however, they are the promoter of family ideas/ideals. well, since everyone is aware that the wealthy already do contribute more in federal income taxes than anyone else, it seems strange to me that liberals keep trying to win arguments by claiming they don't......

No, the salient point is, they are the only ones paying taxes at all. While 49% of the country doesn't pay one dime of income tax, you are complaining these people don't pay their "fair share" ...but they do, in fact, they are the only group paying any share. The people who aren't paying their "fair share" are those who aren't currently paying income taxes.

Surely you mean a third are not paying? I am speaking up for the squeezed middle tax payers.

No, 49% don't pay income tax, according to the IRS and current tax code. 51% pay 100% of all income tax. Now, the people who "aren't paying their fair share" are those 49% who don't pay any federal income tax. You can complain the upper incomes aren't taxed enough, but they are the only ones paying the lions share.
 
First the GOP told us tax cuts would produce prosperity.


Then after Bush got a tax cut, he blew the surplus he inherited on two failed wars, a pill bill and a host of other programs.


Then the Republican told us we had to extend the tax cuts, so the tax cuts were extended.


Suddenly, after Bush spent like a drunken sailor and a Black man was elected, the right suddenly became concerned about debt and deficits.


Now they want us to believe that Obama should've already fixed the mess it took Bush 8 years to create, by cutting spendng - in the middle of the worst recession since WWII - without allowing the tax cuts to expire.


All we need is just some more tax cuts, they say.
