Obama says he inherited economic problems

after the recession reagan sure did better...thanks for sharing

Did better than what? GDP growth under Reagan: 3.09%. GDP growth under Obama: 4.57%. Yet, Reagan is the greatest president ever and Obama is a total failure.

Edit: I'd also note that, unlike Obama, Reagan didn't inherit a recession.

Here's GDP sicne Obama took office:

Here's GDP during the same period of Regain's first term:

Thanks for sharing... the above charts demonstrate that the economy was already recovering when Obama took over whereas Reagan TRULY inherited a recession.

As Obama's policies began to be implemented, GDP has subsequently stagnated and is threatening to fall negative again.

As Reagan's policies (and that of Volcker) were implemented, GDP growth skyrocketed.

But again, thanks for proving with your charts that Reagan inherited a much bigger mess and was much more successful at handling said mess.

No, Reagan inherited a "malaise!"

And yeah..you got that right... Reagan: Greatest Ever -- Obama: total failure. :good4u:

Hilarious. Reagan didn't inherit a recession. Obama did. GDP growth is higher under Obama than it was under Reagan at this point in this presidency.

lmao...is there anyone who is a bigger apologist for obama? the snapshot your provided shows reagan did better immediately after the recession. you cannot compare an entire term to a partial term and claim obama has done better. you, unintentionally, showed that reagan actually inherited a far worse economy than obama and turned it around better than obama. thank you for that.

Wow, Onecell was crowing about it being over 12k... now it's dipping below 11k? man... a few more days like we've been having, and it might be back down to 7k!

when dunceler gives markets snapshots, it is good....but bad for anyone else to comment on it

I'm comparing partial terms to partial terms. The snapshot shows GDP over the same period of time for each president. You want to compare different time periods.

And Reagan didn't inherit an economy in the midst of a recession. Obama did. And the recession that Obama inherited was far deeper and longer than the recession we entered under Reagan. Here again is the Carter economy as compared to the Bush economy:

Claiming that the economy Reagan inherited was "far worse" that the economy Obama inherited is hilarious.

not according to your chart
But you are reading the charts wrong. The recession under Reagan did not officially begin until Q3, when Reagan had been in office and entire 6 months. Therefore, that recession was Reagan's fault, and he did not inherit it.

The recession under Obama ended at Q2, when Obama had been in office an entire 3 months, proving that Obama is a fiscal genius.

Gotta read those charts like a liberal, don't ya know....

why don't you link the source for those graphs. for starters, your graphs do in fact show obama inherited an economy in better condition than reagan. your first two charts show that. you're trying to mangle the data and move the goal posts. nice try, but major fail.

Yeah, my comment was a real "snapshot." The market has been hovering around 12K for months now, and has been over 10K for over a year.

My comment stands; it's better when the market is in that range, as opposed to the 7K range.

Or are you agreeing with Dixie that 7K is "better"?
