Damo - Board Question

lol.......I just hit the "what's new" button.....eight of the sixteen threads were started by him, three of those had no responses......if you hit the "Today's Posts" button, it's 20 out of 50.......

Yurt mentioned gun posts and that's what I was referring to.

"...he spams the board with the same anti gun crap everyday."

It should not be a question of quantity but of quality.... pause for hoots of laughter.... I don't care if one poster wants to post 100 times about guns or gremlins providing that somewhere within it all there is the opportunity for a response.
There are few here that really annoy me, far fewer I suspect than the reverse !, but I think posters who only come here to make personal comments about other posters are really wasting their time and the time of all of us. Of course we are all guilty to a degree and I hope that I have managed to annoy a fair few paople but it is usually as part of a political or newsworthy point.
I think there are only two people who, were the site mine, I might be tempted to ban, but they are seldom present nowadays.

;)

I like what Good Luck is saying and I think he brings up a good point. The obvious answer if you don't like a troll is put him on IA or leave the board and find a new one. However at what point, as GL stated, if any, should freedom trump his ability to completely ruin the board? I agree with Bravo that the ultimate answer is to put him on IA and ignore him however enough people engage him in his little games that many threads get sidetracked and ultimately ruined.

Whether someone agrees or disagrees with me I think new blood on the board is always great. I do not like a troll/spammer who's sole intent is ruining the board and not participating in it.

I find Good Luck's posts annoying, with his constant liberal bashing, sweeping generalizations, ad homs, foul mouth etc. I stopped responding to him because of those things. So I guess it all depends on whose ox is being gored.

What do you consider "ruining the board"? For me it's personal attacks, whining, flame wars and the constant posts and threads about trolls.

How many posts does Good Luck make? Hardly any. He rarely posts here. The troll posts in EVERY thread. And talk about name calling. I only see the troll's posts when other people quote him and he name calls all day long. That is what he does. My issue with him has nothing to do with his politics. If I wanted a board of people who only think like me I would go to a Sean Hannity site or somewhere else. I like and want more discussions where my beliefs are challeneged and there are good exchanges between posters. This guy trolling on EVERY thread helps to prevent that. If you don't believe me I'll gladly role play for a day to show you what it is like. You say you don't like the name calling of GL and Webbway and those guy's rarely post. Again, imagine that on EVERY thread.

I mentioned Good Luck because he's the person that initiated the discussion. But you can substitute almost any RW poster and my comments would still stand. Besides you, I can't think of any rightie (self-described) that doesn't do some or all of the things GL does. Bravo, yurt, DY, PMP, STY, etc. -- every single day, same old same old. These people just substitute a liberal's name in place of Bachmann. I want my beliefs challenged also, but when someone starts the thread with "stupid liberals" comments, I usually stop paying attention because it's just ax-grinding, not an opening for discussion. I've been called a hack and an Obama defender frequently, yet those people never acknowledge the times I've criticized Obama to the point of saying I may not vote for him in 2012.

To be fair, the few liberals still here, including moi, have all done the same on occasion. But perhaps because we have a Dem president and he's open to criticism, I see way more insult posts coming from RWs.

You finished by saying Legion trolls every thread. I'm not really sure what this means. Is it responding to people, starting new threads, insulting RW pols, what? By that definition yurt's a troll. He has countless posts of nothing but circular arguments with people, asking but not answering questions, using insults and name calling. So how are they different? Again I say it all depends on whose ox is being gored.

taking out mirror holding up to chris

So says the the ad hom "bu$h" hater after her years of name calling ax grinding leftist talking points... I believe I have seen numerous, not occasional, bravo name calling hating posts from you chris. Then there are the yurt hating, moi hating, Loyal hating threads.

Did anyone notice that chris named people who had not commented and yet objects to me posting directly to her about her hypocritical comments? Is chris fanning the flames by doing so? Just ask her and she's certain to have some self righteous hypocritical response ...I rest my case :D

Paying attention, Cawacko? And do you see ID criticizing this post for naming people who hadn't commented?

 ID, the hypocritical, self-deceptive poser thinking she's scoring a point.

'Democrats look out for my best interest.'
'Republicans only care about the rich.'
'Democrats care about poor people.'
'Republicans hate unions, and love corporate fat cats.'
'Corporations are evil.'

Sound familiar? Its the mantra of some on the left. We've all read it in these pages, over and over again. Do they actually believe this shit?

Maybe they do, maybe they don't. It doesn't really matter. What matters is that this is their mantra, designed to prop up their Democrat Party elite, and demonize those who are against them.

So who are these people? For clues, read their mantra. Each of the lines above- and there are many more like them- indicate something about the persona of the person uttering them.

They are losers in life. They are jealous of those who have succeeded or who were born with better looks, more smarts, or a better inheritance.

This explains Moot, a man with one of the ugliest mugs on the planet. Or Zap, not merely ugly but obese and slovenly. Or Apple (dim), Dune (learning disabled), Bfgrn (parents died and provided inadequate support), or Legion (unemployable).

They want to punish those who have what they can't have. This attribute is shared by vandals, who destroy something of value because they can never have it themselves. Or worse, a rapist, who destroys innocence and beauty, again because he knows he can never have it.

This is a post from Christiefan ????.....I might be 2 sheets to the wind, but this is an awesome post for liberal........or am I 5 sheets to the wing and don't know it ? Gotta come back later with a clearer mind...

While I can see the fine line between keeping a healthy dialogue and allowing as complete freedom of expression available, I have to take this opportunity to say that I would post here more often, if it were not for (\(\(\/)/)/)‎. It has come to the point, even though I have ended up blocking the useless piece of bovine flesh, if I see (\(\(\/)/)/)‎ as the originator, or even involved in a thread, I will pass it by because despite blocking, I end up wading through people responding to - and all too often quoting the submoronic drivel it spouts, and I have decided it's not worth it. Unfortunately that leaves very little left for me to enjoy reading, and/or chiming in on. This, in turn, leaves me many days where I do no more than check a few thread titles before leaving. While I laud your adherence to the principles of freedom, is this a case where the end result of significantly reducing the enjoyment of this site by others worth sticking that hard to the principle of near-absolute freedom of expression?

I agree with this 100%.

And the fact is, even if everyone ignored him he would still continue spamming the board with his shit. He still posts worthless threads even though nobody responds.

The only troll I see on this board is Legion Troll who is on my ignore list.

As for (\(\(\/)/)/)‎ I find his posts either right on target or playing devil's advocate. There's nothing wrong with thinking outside the box and there's nothing wrong with questioning another's opinion without offering ones own. In fact, that's probably preferable, in many cases.

The goal is not necessarily to start an argument but have the individual examine his/her point of view. That's never been more apparent than in this video
(specifically between 0.32 - 0.52)

Whether it's people such as Brooksley Born when she tried to argue her side regarding Greenspan and the looming financial crisis or Liberals/Democrats here trying to argue against the Conservatives/Republicans unless we get to the philosophical beliefs that drive the respective arguments it's almost impossible to make headway.

I see (\(\(\/)/)/)‎ posing questions to the Conservatives/Republicans as an attempt to get them to examine their philosophical beliefs. For example, if one does not believe in helping people it's pointless to ask them why they won't help those who have no medical coverage or why they are against taxing the wealthy to help the poor or any other plan in which the goal is to help.

That's definitely not troll behavior. It's a rational approach to many of the discussions currently going on.

But by just claiming over and over ad nauseum that he's a troll, they begin to marginalize him and then they can pretend to ignore his comments and questions.

I'm not pretending anything. I said I've had him on IA all along. I have not denied it. And it sounds like others have done the same. It is also difficult to marginalize someone who posts on almost every single thread. They are there whether you like it or not.

the troll hasn't posted in a few hours....perhaps this thread worked.

Doubtful dude. Even the troll takes a couple of hours off periodically. And as a troll I'm sure he loves seeing threads like this. I've said my piece and from here on out will continue to keep him on IA and just ignore him.
