Bachmann - Take away states rights...

She is pushing its passage. Its an amendment to take away the rights of the states and give that power to the Federal Government, no matter how you slice it or get it approved.

If all the states agree to disband all state governments and give all powers to the Fed, the result is still big government, the affect is the same.

How is setting a standard that 3/4 of the states agree to big government?

How is it OK with a states rights, constitionalist to force all the states to go along with the majority? Either you are in favor of state's rights or you are not chameleon.

Because he is all about states rights until he sees the federal gov't do something he wants done, then its ok. His idea of individual freedom depends on whether he gets what he wants.

He is for States rights as long as it supports his adgenda, if states rights allow more freedom, he is all for the Fed taking over.

So what about the court, in an unconstitutional manner, in CA, undermining the democratic process of the people who voted prop 8?

Bachmann is a proven liar.

She will say anything to get approval.

be wary of political groups calling for less government, they have a bunch of social ills they want the government to police.

Start a thread on that subject and we can discuss it.... Currently we are discussing Bachmann and her promotion of a larger Federal Government.

No its to be a federal standard, but unlike your beloved EPA who just writes rules that states must then obey, 3/4 of the states must ratify this simple standard. So how again is it big government?

Its not a majority, but a super majority, requiring 3/4 of the states to ratify it. Its called the amendment process, and its part of the Constitution.

An Amendment requires ratification by 3/4 majority of state legislatures. How is that taking away states rights?

Aren't you an attorney? :palm:

Bump again for Jarod, the brilliant attorney. This is your third and final chance to respond to my post which destroys your argument.

I aware of the requirements to pass a Constitutional Amendmen. What you seem to b e saying is that you are okay with a larger Federal Government and less states rights as long as its done in the form of a Constitutional Amendment?

Doesn't matter what kind of majority it is, Sophist. What matters is that 12 states will have lost their rights to decide. That is anti-state's rights, no matter how you word it. Seriously, integrity, get some.

World English Dictionary
integrity (ɪnˈtɛɡrɪtɪ) n 1. adherence to moral principles; honesty 2. the quality of being unimpaired; soundness 3. unity; wholeness [C15: from Latin integritās; see integer ]

A Constitutional Amendment he agrees with. Anyone really 3/4 of states going along with that? Now, like NY if they put it up by referendum, the people might turn it down. Then again, referendums were a progressive reform, remember?
