How American Cars Beat Japanese Cars: Earthquake

Once again Yurt ignores our ruinous trade imbalance.

now you're moving the goal posts because i once again trounced your argument. so instead of admitting your mistake, you deflect.

i know you're embarrassed, but admitting you're wrong will allow you to increase in knowledge.

yes you did...you went from focusing on where a car is made to now focusing on trade imbalance. since you were proven so embarrassingly wrong on where cars are made, you slink away from that and focus only trade....LOL

You really are a lying retard. Read post 9 and tell me my point wasn't about trade imbalance.

still running away from where the cars are made i see....

how did i lie? everything i said is 100% factual. you FIRST focused on where the cars are made, then you made it about who owns the stock, and then you brought up trade imbalance and NOW you have run away from where the cars are made after i posted an article that showed you are dead wrong. so NOW you are focusing solely on trade imbalance after losing the argument about where the cars are made.

a simple - i was wrong yurt - will suffice

Read post#9 retard. What a fucking idiot you are.

lol...post # 9, post #9....why you keep repeating it as if it makes you right makes zero sense. it makes you look dumb. nothing in post 9 makes my post incorrect.

Talking about dependable cars my old Pontiac is running great.

Similar to this one. It's a Canadian Pontiac made from US parts. Notice the Chevy tail lights.

Dollar for dollar you can't beat a Pontiac! :D

I have already destroyed Yurt's circular japanese argument previously, however, if need be, I can do it again. Let's start with the profits made by G.M. or Ford and compare where they go to the profits from the manufacture of a Toyota, assembled in this country or Japan. The majority ownership of Toyota is an investment bank in Japan, the number three such bank in the world. Where you do think they invest most of the trade imbalance generating funds they siphon from the U.S. via Toyota sales?
Why don't the profits come to Detroit?

GM, Ford cars knock Toyota, Honda out of Top 10

Detroit has finally achieved its dream -- for one month, anyway. It knocked Japan's four best-selling cars out of the Top 10 best-sellers in the USA in May results reported this week.

The Honda Accord and Civic, and Toyota Camry and Corolla are always grouped behind the two best-selling pickups, Ford F-Series and Chevrolet Silverado, on the list of top 10. This month, they fell into the teens, Autodata figures show.

A year ago, Camry was the nation's third best-selling vehicle for May. Last month it was 12th. The fourth-place Civic moved to 13th. The fifth-place Accord is now 15th. And the sixth-place Corolla fell to 16th.

It wasn't due to fading popularity. Rather, plants both in the U.S. and Japan have been operating at reduced levels because of parts shortages in the wake of the disaster in Japan. Toyota, for instance, reports a shortage of Camrys, with a 30-day supply, and Corolla, with a 50-day supply, well below normal.

it is pathetic that it takes a natural disaster to help make american cars #1 again....

Apparently you didn't read your own link to well Yurt. The two top selling vehicles in the nation have been American for quite some time. The only types of cars the Japanese lead in sales are family sedans and economy cars. The most popular selling vehicle in the world is the Ford F-Series (specifically the F-150) and has been for quite some time. Recently the Ford Focus has displaced both the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic as the best performing and most reliable economy car. I bought a Ford Focus ZX4 SES and not only is it more reliable then either the Civic or the Corolla it significantly outperforms all trims of the Civic and Corolla (with the exception of the Civic Si. It delivers 30 more horse power then the new Focus Titanium but the Ti has a superior chasis and just absolutely blows the Si out of the water with it's refinements and interior. so call it a wash). Having driven all 3.....Toyota has some serious catching up to do.

i remember reading that the camry was #1....not in that article...but elsewhere...you're right though...it is the F-150 series

Why is that pathetic? And do you drive American cars made in America?

Cars are .... actually I want to wait to see why you think this is pathetic and why it is so.

Made In USA? A Toyota Is ‘Most American’ Car.

“Buy American” has long been a battle cry among some consumers who want to support domestic manufacturing. This is especially so in the car market. But do you know just how American your car is? Globalization of the auto industry with suppliers based around the world makes it increasingly difficult to tell the degree to which vehicles are made in the USA.
So what should you buy if you want to help the domestic car business? A Ford? A Chevy? Try a Toyota or a Honda. According to Cars.com, a consumer information and research site, the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord are number one and two on the list of “most American” vehicles. The Ford Escape, Ford Focus and Chevrolet Malibu complete the top five on the American-Made index. The index ranks vehicles based on the percentage of their parts, based on cost, that are made domestically, where they are assembled and how popular they are among U.S. buyers.
The Camry, which Toyota builds in Georgetown, Ky., and Lafayette, Ind., is in the top spot for the second year in a row. Toyota’s large Tundra pickup, built in San Antonio, Texas, and the Sienna van, from a factory in Princeton, Ind., also made the list. Of the top 10 vehicles on the American Made index, five of them come from Japanese car makers.

While people consider full-size pickup trucks quintessentially American, the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado and MC Sierra missed the list this year. The F-150 is assembled in the U.S. but its proportion of domestic parts fell to 55%. In previous years it had a domestic parts content of around 80 percent, Cars.com says.

it is pathetic, because GM, Ford, etc....should not need a natural disaster to knock the competition out of the top 10. it is bizarre you think it is not pathetic, as if americans can't beat the competition unless there is a natural disaster....

What is pathetic is that losers like you buy a toyota and blame the american car companies lack of sales on something other than yourself.

flock you dune...i am going to buy the best car...if the so called american companies (SEE the article that says toyota is most american) can't produce a quality product, i am certaintly not going to purchase it. you can take faux patriotism and stick up your ass. losers like you are happy if america produces lower quality, you have america fail because you don't expect the best. buying a so called american car solely because it is "made" in america does not make this a better country.

I buy american because they are better, not in spite of it retard.

they are not better...it is a fact toyota's keep their value longer. further, your whole point in this thread is that i should buy american to support my country, so little liar, your comment above is pure meadowmuffin. you claim it is patriotic to buy american, that has ZERO to do with quality...mental midget
