Weinergate: Married congressman’s Twitter account shares lewd photo

It is the ultimate irony that a guy named Weiner has tweeted a wiener... This is surreal. His inane actions at his Press Conferences is also pushing this story. Simple basic questions going unanswered... It's just incredibly weird.

He can't deny it publicly too loudly, because it appears that he has to have the incident investigated- I think he did do it and his panicked defense has gotten him in hot water.

Nice to see you convicting the guy before an investigation has even BEGUN...LOL

And hey, thanks for tossing in another healthy dose of your patented innuendo to cap off another informative post.

Innocent until proven guilty?

Only if it's someone Damo might vote FOR.

Well, he's started to respond, which only gets more surreal:

Pun filled post of the day:

'I mean I just can't tell, I have so many pictures of me in my underwear with erections. I'm a little bigger or smaller? Trend left of course, it's just so hard!

Weiner ‘can’t say with certitude’ if Twit pics were of him

MSNBC is about to come out with what appears to be a terrific interview. Luke Russert was just asking Rep. Anthony Weiner questions about his controversial Tweet, and Weiner appears to actually be answering. Unfortunately, the live feed kept going out — so we will have to wait for MSNBC to air the full video in a bit. In the mean time, we do know that Russert asked Weiner if the lewd pictures that were Tweeted from Weiner’s account to a young lady were of him. Weiner answered:
“I can’t say with certitude. My system was hacked. Pictures can be manipulated. Pictures can be dropped in and inserted.”

“It was a prank.” Someone “spoofed me, made fun of me — whatever,” — he said, adding, “this is not a national security matter.”
The live video feed shut off at an inopportune time, but it looks like Russert will be out with a good interview in a bit…

I really hope this ends up with someone having to walk up and down an identity parade of naked congressmen wearing masks with their lads in their hands.

For me, that would just about sum up contemporary politics.

I know, this is getting more hilarious by the moment... it has gone viral now, he can hang it up... BUSTED! lol

He's really painted himself into a corner, and this ain't going away. I'm sorry, but I completely agree with ZapHead's comments... we need a full and complete FBI investigation into this, to determine what really happened... before the Congressman further damages himself by committing a felony. Sometimes, law enforcement has to step in and save these dumb bastards from themselves. Let's just let the FBI clarify whether he was hacked and by whom, and/or if the 'tweet' of his 'weenie' really originated from the Weenie? He's playing it off as a prank, so I think we need to find out who the prankster is... the FBI can clear this all up in about 15 minutes.

Me too! I just responded to a pm on another board that politicians of all parties must be amongst the weirdest of the weird. How often they are caught? Just strange!

WASHINGTON (KABC) -- New York congressman Anthony Weiner has hired a lawyer to investigate what steps to take in a lewd photo scandal.

The photo, which showed a man's bulging underpants, was sent from his Twitter account on Friday to a female college student in Seattle. His spokesperson said Weiner's Twitter account was hacked and calls the incident a prank.

Weiner held a news conference on Tuesday and didn't directly answer questions like whether it was him in the photo, or if he sent it. He got angry with reporters and even called one a "jackass."

He insisted that he wanted to move on from the incident, which was distracting from his work on Capitol Hill.

"I'm not going to talk about this anymore," Weiner told reporters on Capitol Hill. "I think that if I was giving a speech to 45,000 people and someone stood up and heckled in the back, I wouldn't spend three days talking to him. I'm going to get back to the conversation I care about."

Hired a lawyer??? If he is innocent why does he need a lawyer??

Again, this raises concerns of national security, if his personal account was hacked, he is a Congressman. This could be an issue for Homeland Security, if what he is claiming is true. I think the people deserve to know the details here, and if there was some 'prankster' at work, we need to find out who it is and how he did this. It's frightening to think we are that vulnerable to cyber attacks... if they can hack Weiner (hehe)... they could hack Clinton... Obama... anyone. If they can send out a Tweet of a Weenie... they could launch nuclear weapons! This needs investigation now!

Well, it is true that he "can't say with certainty whether or not the photo is of" his very own banana hammock...

And won't say he didn't not send it...

LOL. This guy is certainly entertaining.

Indeed. Today he started to talk, going downhill now:

The Weiner Career Death Watch

Let me just come right out and say it: Anthony Weiner is done.

(Yes, I was going to write “cooked,” but I talked myself out of it. This is a serious topic about an absurd man. I’ve got to hold off on the puns as long as I can.)

Weiner might not be forced to resign his seat. New York has kept some patently absurd and corrupt people in Congress for a very long time. It would be a poignant image from the decline of a great Republic to capture a photo of Charlie Rangel napping through Weiner’s tearful resignation speech.

The Democrats are the party that gave Charlie Rangel a standing ovation after his slap on the wrist for flagrant, sickening corruption. They aren’t likely to turn on a married man who sent a lewd photo to a college girl, if indeed Weiner turns out to be the one who sent that package.

Dang it, I only made it through two paragraphs without a pun. I’m sorry, folks. I tried.

At any rate, as long as Weiner looks electable, no one in the Democrat Party will pressure him to resign that seat. His problem is that he’s become ridiculous. His role as a front-line attack dog for the Democrats’ ugly class warfare tactics is over. From now on, he’s just a blowhard who will have to put up with audiences bursting into uncontrollable fits of laughter at the mention of his name.

He didn’t help matters with the false accusations about mysterious “hackers” he hastily deployed in the early hours of the breaking scandal. For one thing, as Lachlan Markay at the Washington Examiner points out, Weiner used to take cyber security very seriously. Now he’s just tossing accusations of major security violations around as flimsy distractions to play for time. He actually made jokes about being “hacked” to show how cool he was, and lower the temperature of the emerging scandal. If his concern for cyber security was so obviously manufactured and insincere, why should he be taken seriously about anything, ever again?...

Rep. Anthony Weiner finally made his last media stop of the day, this time sitting down with Rachel Maddow– who interviewed Rep. Weiner just as his Twitter account released a skimpy underwear photo. Maddow was by far the least combative of his interviewers, and the approach seemed to have paid off. This time, instead of “I don’t know,” the Congressman told Maddow that it is possible that the photo was of him and had been “taken out of context.”
