U.S. Military Personnel, Veterans Give Obama Lower Marks
Younger, active-duty military less likely to have an opinion on Obama either way
by Frank Newport

PRINCETON, NJ -- U.S. military veterans and those currently on active military duty are less likely to approve of President Obama's job performance than are Americans of comparable ages who are not in the military.

And one wonders~

Voters continue to be almost evenly divided when asked if they want to reelect President Obama.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that in a hypothetical 2012 presidential matchup, a generic Republican candidate earns support from 45% of Likely U.S. Voters, while the president attracts 43% of the vote. Three percent (3%) favor some other candidate, and eight percent (8%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

This is the reverse of last week when Obama picked up 45% support to the generic Republican's 44%. In weekly surveys since the beginning of May, support for both the president and a generic Republican have remained in the narrow range of 43% to 45%. Rasmussen Reports will provide new data on this generic matchup each week until the field of prospective Republican nominees narrows to a few serious contenders.

An incumbent who earns support below 50% is generally considered politically vulnerable. In every matchup tested so far this year against potential GOP challengers, the president’s support has stayed between 42% and 49%. The president’s total job approval ratings are a good indicator of what percentage of the vote he may earn in the 2012 presidential race. Aside from a brief bounce in support following the killing of Osama bin Laden, Obama’s approval ratings have hovered in the high 40s for the past 18 months.

so now we can't golf on memorial day 'weekend'? what if we bbq? is obama supposed to dress in black all weekend?

libs went after bush with this kind of silliness....there is much to criticize obama over, golfing this past weekend, is not one

"Seems like every Republican blogger, tweeter, and facebooker has picked up the item about Obama and his Memorial Day golf outing. In fact, Google the words "Memorial Day Obama Golf" and you'll see the same article come up again and again. Here's a representative sentence from the article everyone, including the Torah-true scholars at Matzav, have reposted:

The decision to golf on Memorial Day invites comparison with President George W. Bush, who gave up the game early in his presidency and said he did it out of respect for the families of those killed in Iraq.

Scant mention is given to Obama's other activities yesterday, which included a ceremony in Arlington National Cemetery and a visit with some of the families of those killed in battle.

And how exactly did Bush spend his last Memorial Day in office? Not golfing of course, but bike riding: From USA Today, May 26, 2008:

Bush was at the White House through 3 p.m., the time he asked Americans to pause for a moment to remember the fallen. Then, he went to a Secret Service training facility in Beltsville, Md., just outside Washington, to ride his mountain bike for about 90 minutes.

And the difference between golfing and bike-riding is... what exactly?

After the jump see the definitive comment on Bush and his giving up golf, including absolute proof that he lied about it. Despitre claiming that he gave up golf in May of 2003 footage exists of W playing the game on Columbus Day (!!) 2003.

CLULESS? That's a nice word and you nearly got it right. Well done.

Well ID, at least he didn't see dead people this year again.... it's progress!

"On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes -- and I see many of them in the audience here today -- our sense of patriotism is particularly strong."

Sure there is much to criticize-including his 9th straight week of golf. Making him "clueless" "out of touch"-yes, yurt, perception is reality. He is not everyone yurt, he's the president with 3 international conflicts; a disastrous economy; and the worst tornado season in recorded history killing and devastating his countrymen.

If the soldiers who kill for you deserve R & R does not your president?
