The Donald would not a good president make

ID, I did hear him mention his friend's child, almost to the same length you just mentioned it. To me, it sounded concocted, as if he knew he needed to explain his change of heart with something, or it wouldn't 'sell' to the public... I'm not saying he is lying, I don't know... just a feeling, I guess. And I have changed my mind on things, but I can ALWAYS explain in specific detail, exactly why I hold my viewpoint, and if I've changed, why I was in error before. I am just not hearing this kind of passion from Trump.

Whenever I argue against "Gay Marriage" it is always accompanied by the reasons I am opposed, my respect for the sanctity of traditional marriage, protecting the foundational values of traditional family, not establishing law based on sexual preference or lifestyle choices... I give the reasons I am opposed, why I think it's a bad idea, why I think my viewpoint is correct. I didn't hear this from Trump... What I heard was: "I'm not for it... just not for me..." Nothing else! He didn't even bother to come up with a friend who was gay for that one, he just dismisses it entirely.

Donald Trump doesn't strike me as a demonstrably passionate man when it comes to the emotional issues such as pro-choice and what some would refer to as the "Chick Schtick" issues. I see him getting passionate about our foreign debt, rebuilding America through tough spending cuts and hard work, but not on abortion/pro-choice.

He just ain't warm and fuzzy that way.

Yes, well, we have limitless time to hammer out our opinions with Google at our finger tips to go after a single issue that is important to us. You have a well reasoned and articulated position on gay marriage because you have spent time developing one. Trump's in an interview setting with 5 second sound bite moments. He answered the question like an average guy might Dix...in his gut it just doesn't seem right, I think for him it probably is not on his list of big deals-at least that's how he sounded to me. I have no problem with that answer-none-it's an honest position to take and a brave one in this PC climate imo. Anyway...we shall see what happens eh?

But I think even Sarah Palin can give her reasons for being pro-life as opposed to pro-choice... this is not just because I am able to articulate over time, it is because people who hold principled convictions, have no problem articulating them, even in a 5-second sound bite. You said yourself, "he answered the question like an average guy might" and that is what I am seeing as well... all of his rhetoric is tailor made for the "average guy" out there, who is a member of the TEA Party movement. It's too early to really speculate on the scenarios, because no one has even announced their candidacy yet, so we just don't know who will be in contention at this point, for the GOP nomination. But you have to figure, there will likely be several TEA Party types, vying for the Evangelical vote, and the "average joe" and there will be Mitt Romney, the darling of the Republican elite, the libertarian-moderate wing of the party.... sitting there, unscathed, unchallenged... while the TP Candidates hold a WWE grudge match with The Donald. If Trump didn't have a long history of political viewpoints very closely aligned with Mitt Romney's, I might buy this as legitimate. The truth is, Trump is a New Yorker, and his political leanings are more in line with Romney than anyone else on the right. Yet, he is out there trying to sound very "TEA PArty-ish" in his interviews... appealing to the kind of voter the Romney camp thinks might vote for a Palin or Huckabee. Time will tell, but I really do think this is what is happening, I am more convinced of it as time goes by, and I really do hope I am wrong about it.

Again, I totally agree... Trump's TRUMP CARD is his business savvy and expertise in the world of finance... so why didn't he lead with that? Why has he chosen to focus on the issue of the Obama birth certificate instead? People say, well, he just did that for publicity, but he didn't need any, he's Donald Trump! We already know him and respect him as a man of business, he has credibility as that already... he doesn't need publicity. Tell us how to fix the debt problem... tell us how to turn deficits into profits... tell us how to bring the American economy back from the dead... we're listening, you're the man, we know you can answer these questions..... but you are concerned with the birth certificate? You want to make sure we know you had a change of heart on pro-choice and are now pro-life? Oh... and even though you've lived in New York City your whole life, the idea of "gay marriage" just isn't for you? Really???

You are going to look so foolish when he doesn't run, again. He does need the publicity!

He thrives on it, and especially if it is controversy.

If Trump were to win...

As I said above. He's pointing out if Obama cannot be forthcoming about something as silly and mundane as producing his original birth certificate, then the baloney he spewed in the beginning about how transparent he would be in matters affecting the American people is a crock of $hit.

We already knew that! In fact, we already know that everything coming out of Obama's mouth is a crock of shit. We didn't need Trump to point that out!

It's Obama's achilles heel. It needs to be gnawed on. It hits the mark and ouches. Trump is good at that.

Yes, Sarah Palin, being an out spoken practicing Christian can and should be able to articulate her religious positions on those issues... Trump stated his position(s) in guy like terms "single syllable monotones" and that's that.

A friend of mine saw Trump by chance at a hotel lobby in New York about ten years ago, and walked over just to shake his hand. Trump invited him to sit down and they talked for about 45 minutes. He's a very interesting and intelligent, and just a regular guy.

He brings up the birther kick because it sheds light on the transparency, or lack thereof, from the guy that promised transparency in all his doings and since the time he uttered his first promise, he's been consistently full of bullshit since.

With all due respect, there are plenty of other and better ways to show Obama's lack of transparency than the birth certificate issue. A Republican will not win the Presidency in 2012 with Republican voters alone. And Republicans are not going to attract independent voters fed up with Obama by focusing on his birth certificate.

I do not believe that any real campaign will focus on the birth certificate. All of the serious candidates seem content to let that show play out with the sideliners...
