Did you see the actual numbers from our nation debt & spending? Any of those numbers look vaguely familiar?
And the sarcasm about economic policy is almost funny. But where in my OP was expertise in economic policy needed?? The "family" spends FAR more than they make. In order to prevent future problems they cut out a tiny percentage of what they borrow to continue spending like drunken sailors.
What part of the OP or the words above is inaccurate?? Don't just make vague references to your political enemies, bring something factual and concrete to the table.

I think the easiest way is to divide everything by 100,000,000 (10^8).
Let’s start with federal spending. The FY 2011 federal budget is approximately $3.82 trillion (3.82×10^12). Of that, approximately $2.17 trillion will be paid for by taxes collected and the remaining $1.65 trillion will be borrowed from our grandchildren. If we divide everything by 100 million, the numbers begin to make more sense.

We are spending billions of dollars wastefully, and you want to let that go and raise taxes? Other than your standard cash cow chant of "tax the rich" surely you know the people will not stand for it.
Before you sent the gov't to dig deeper into my pockets, have them stop wasting money paying farmers not to plant, subsidizing bullshit, and slap a few holes in that boated leech that is the DoD budget.
Winterborn, it is always interesting to see some of the newer folks come on with pre-conceived notions about a person's politics and stances just from looking at thier moniker or reading their short profile. I can think of several who upon seeing "democrat" by my name immediately thought I was a democrat cut from the mold of desh or someone similar. Same with you and a couple of other fiscal conservatives on here. If these folks had been here all along they would have seen you guys rail against Bush for spending "like a drunken sailor" during the Bush years and would then realize where you are coming from. The thing is that those years (Bush) are gone and now it is Obama's turn. But the attitude seems to be (from most except Oncelor and the like) that you can't say anything negative about Obama or blame him for anything. I am less a fiscal conservative than most so the subject of this thread is not as interesting as some to me, but as a spectator on the sidelines it has been quite comical.
It is why we should raise revenue! Which the Republicans refuse to do, to me, it is the price they need to pay to live in this great country. I heard a comment about Twitter this morning, that their overseas markets are expanding, but they are losing ground here in the USA, and they need our market!
Corporations like to pretend they can go else where, but the fact of the matter is that the USA is still a reliable, stable country where they can do business without too much worry. They need to pay for this security!
