Imagine No Religion...

I did, with the place you can find out the answer. Your question is like asking me to explain a complex mathematical formula. It takes more space than a message board has to offer.

No you didn't. You just simply labelled them as "dog emotions" and expected that to carry weight. it doesnt.

You ask me to "teach me algebra" I tell you where to go to take the class. In this case you ask me about a complex book, then expect me to read it for you. Read the book. I know you don't like to actually know about things, but it would help. Dogs are not people, while they have some equivalence, your dog is not trying to "hug" you.

No, but Cocoa the gorilla will hug and kiss you...

These were not religious beliefs, you crack me up! They had law before the Ten Commandments, didn't Moses get in trouble for murdering a man in Egypt? Murder was against he law way before Moses and the Imperfect Ten!

as I recall, it was considered wrong all the way back to Cain and Abel....

Genesis4:13 Cain said to the LORD, “My punishment is more than I can bear. 14 Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”

You are WAAAAAAAAAYYYY behind in animal research, go Google, Cocoa...the gorilla and tell me that animals don't reason. We are finding out more animal intelligence all the time.

okay.....they don't reason......if you give a monkey a banana does not mean the same as "If You Give A Moose a Cookie".....

Weren't you saying human spirituality is innate? What you mean is our intelligence is innate, which we use to think through how to relate to other individuals and world scenarios. Animals do the same according to their capacity. And animals have displayed contemplative behavior, problem solving behavior. can you use your reason to see that they would also use this ability in their social relations? Probably not, but i have faith in you.:)

Intelligence and Spirituality are two different things, why would saying one 'really mean' the other? Do you think Spirituality = Intelligence? Well, since you profess to have no spiritual beliefs, it would certainly apply in your case, because you also aren't very intelligent either, but I don't think that was the point you wanted to make, was it? Human spirituality is innate, we are never born Atheists.

Animals can learn to do tasks, animals have animal emotions and feelings, and can show remorse, anger, happiness, sorrow.. none of these emotional attributes have anything to do with human spirituality or the morally conscious elements of humanity. Animals have no sense of morality, a dog will sit there and lick his balls in front of you while you're eating lunch, he doesn't care that it may offend you. If you yell at him, his little pink pecker might start poking out, and cause you to have to explain that to the 6-year old in the room... the dog doesn't give a shit! If the dog is horny, he might hump your girlfriend... the dog has no sense that this is wrong. Even a chimpanzee, one of our very close cousins.. will masturbate right there for God and everybody to see, and not be a bit ashamed of it.... they don't give a shit! They don't have human morality, they don't have a sense of right and wrong, as humans do.

Typing lots of irrelevant bullshit doesn't help your case.

Hey dipshit, what I typed was anthropological findings and facts, and it is YOUR opinion on relevancy. Neanderthals didn't worship... Homo Sapiens did... Just a FACT! I think, a pretty darn relevant one, when we are talking about human spirituality, and how it ties to who we are and why we aren't living in a jungle somewhere.

...Again. another non-point.

LOL... That's the exact same point I have made, the things that separate us from the rest of the animal kingdom, were necessary for us to emerge from the jungles and advance the species.

It was YOUR point, I agreed with it! LMFAO! ...Shoulda known it was a non-point! :lmao:

It depends on whether you consider worship and spirituality synonymous. Neanderthals certainly dug graves and buried bones in an ordered fashion which suggests a reverence, if nothing else, for the departed. In most circles that is considered as spiritual. The reverence bit would be akin to many people’s ideas of worship, even silent meditation is a form of worship so it is extremely likely that Neanderthals both worshipped and were spiritual.
Of course, Neanderthals were not ‘extinguished’ with the evolution of Homo Sapiens, they interbred to a certain extent.

You are right; it is relevant.

Well, worship IS spirituality. You have to be a very astute parser of words to describe worship any other way. Neanderthals didn't bury their dead with rituals, there is no evidence to suggest this. There is no evidence to suggest they worshiped or were spiritual. With homo sapien civilizations, we find evidence of worship and spirituality, they buried their dead with ceremonies using red ochre. These ritualistic burials date back to the earliest civilization we've discovered.

I've also not seen any evidence neanderthal 'interbred' with homo sapien. I would love to see the findings which prove this conclusively, I know it has been a speculation since they discovered both species were around at the same time. Regardless, this has nothing to do with the fact that neanderthal didn't worship and homo sapien did. The stark difference between the two species in this regard, has to be considered when examining why neanderthal died off and homo sapien thrived.

Ugh, now we are back to "Evolution did not happen"!

Ugh, now we are back to "Evolution did not happen"!

Well Jarhead, I don't see where I said that, or made any argument about evolution. It was once thought (for a long time actually) that Neanderthal was our predecessor, that homo sapiens emerged from neanderthal somehow... the 'missing link' was sought for years. But then, they discovered both species actually roamed the Earth during the same time, proving one didn't 'evolve' from the other. This doesn't mean evolution did not happen, it just didn't happen with neanderthals to homo sapiens, as we once thought.

Way back? Do you know when Cain and Abel existed or if they actually did?
