Again, I think I see where Bush went wrong with Iraq...

Back when the liberals had everyone worked into a froth over Bush and Iraq, I made the observation that Bush should have done as Clinton did with Iraq, and Bosnia, Haiti, Sudan, etc.. He should have just loaded up the jets and gone bombing, and forgot about all the formalities. No speeches or getting the approval of Congress, just send your bribery expert up to the UN and buy off whoever you need to say you have 'support' and take off! Before the media has time to pontificate much on it, you are done... Saddam is gone, the people of Iraq are free, and any threat is eliminated. Bush's downfall, was trying to appease liberals. Going through the diplomatic hoops... getting sanctions from the UN... giving Saddam every chance to play nice... practically begging the French, Germans and Russians to not let themselves be bought off by Saddam's corrupt blood money... sending Colin Powell up to "make the case" ....addressing the people to "make the case" and going to Congress.... all stupid errors on Bush's part, he should have done as Clinton, and now as Obama has done, and just do it. Don't fuck around, just start bombing! Why waste all that time, going through the 'diplomatic' process, when that doesn't achieve your goal? It's dumb... If Bush wanted Saddam out, he should have taken him out! Personally, I would have taken care of that before I even went into Afghanistan. But the point is, Bush didn't do what Clinton and Obama did, he wasted time with going to the UN for sanctions, trying to avoid having to use the military.

Fortunately, the history books are written on Iraq.

This kind of thread makes me wonder what you guys are going to be saying a few more years down the line. I'm sure Saddam will have attacked us, and Congress will have dragged Bush kicking & screaming into war, at the very minimum....

It seems liberals are only anti-war when it's a Republican war. How pathetic. At least Bush sought Congressional approval for the "illegal" war in Iraq.

So do you now believe Obama is a war criminal, and that the attack on Libya is an illegal war? Do you favor impeaching Obama and trying him in an international court?

Why don't you ask Dixie if he thinks that Libya is "the greatest military achievement of our generation!"

My problems with Bush & Iraq were very specific, and differ a great deal from my problems with Obama & Libya. Please don't lump me in with your preconceived notion of "anti-Bush liberal."

Hey, it worked for you for 8 years, didn't it? Can you say HYPOCRITE?

Nice to see you not even deny that you're hoping for another Vietnam.

And no...it didn't "work" for me. I was never happy about Iraq, at all.

Big difference between you & me. You don't care about our military at all; it's all about partisan gain for you....

Well Dixie it only took you 8 years to figure that out.

The history books might be written as to the build up to the war and what happened in the rough years, but it is hardly written as to final outcome.... we have yet to see what that will be.

But I am sure if it turns out well, Dems will champion the number of their members that 'authorized' the actions of Bush & Co.

Just like now, because it is not viewed as being all that great, righties are very quick to point out that Dems "authorized" it.
