So Libs... What's the economic plan for $10 gal. gasoline?

seriously... is there anyone on the left besides toppy who understands what causes speculation to increase?

It is getting quite tiresome explaining it over and over and over again.

Speculation increases as uncertainty increases. Oil is rising in price because the uncertainty of the future supply/demand equation has increased. This in turn has caused speculation to increase. They are intertwined. People don't simply create more speculation because they feel like it.

thats because topreefster is a con on fiscal matters only

The same techniques and procedures are going to be used where ever you drill. What you are trying to differentiate has nothing to do with it.

Well, I am talking about drilling for example in a location that can be controlled v. one that cannot, drilling in an enviromentally sensative area v. drilling in a less enviromentally sensative area. Drilling in deep water where if a disaster occures it cannot as easily be contained v. drilling in shallow water where if a disaster occures it can be more easily contained.

As with any endevor, there are safe ways and dangerous ways.

When my 16 year old first starts to drive, I am going to let her drive... but I am not going to give her the keys and say, DRIVE BABY DRIVE. I am going to give her the keys and say, common sense driving! I am not going to let her on the innerstate the first time out, and I am not going to let her drive at 3 AM when the bars let out.

jarod....with any oil drilling comes risk....

any oil comsuption creates risk. any oil demand creates risk. you're blowing the explosion in the gulf way out of proportion as compared to...say...the risk of merely transporting the oil

I never said there was no risk. Sure there is risk, but I am talking about managed measured risk, not simply DRILL BABY DRILL.

There is risk when I have a 16 year old and let her drive... but I will set paramaders and ensure that the risk is measured and managed.

We can drill in ANWAR, we can drill on the coasts, we can drill in the Gulf. Which one of those areas is 'common sense' vs. 'drill baby drill'?

I am sure there are likely safe ways to do all of that, if you use common sense and not Drill Baby Drill.

Please see above.

I don't see any explanation, I see a dodge of the question with some generic bullshit terms being bandied about. I want an answer with some meat on the bone! Please explain to us, what is the difference between "Drill Baby Drill" and "common sense drilling?"

For the record, Jarhead... I don't recall Palin or anyone on the right, ever suggesting "Drill Willy-Nilly Baby, Drill Willy Nilly!" I don't recall anyone on the right suggesting we should just allow oil companies to disregard safety regulations or environmental mandates. Those are all delusional thoughts you may have, regarding how the right feels about drilling, but there is no basis in reality for that.

You speak of "common sense" drilling... well, my common sense tells me, we drill in every kind of condition known to man, and with modern technology and safety standards, we do so with very minimal effect to the environment the overwhelming majority of the time. NOTHING on God's Green Earth, is completely without risk! It doesn't matter WHAT form of energy you're talking about, producing it comes with some risk, just as everything does. That being said, we pump out MILLIONS of barrels a day all over America, safely and efficiently, without ANY environmental incidents.

So what the hell do you mean by "common sense" drilling.... My common sense says, if there is oil beneath the ground, and it's lucrative to drill for it, we should do it!

drill baby drill was not about abandoning all safety for the risks jarod....that is what you are implying. and if so, it is false.

you are about no drill, baby, no drill.

do you see the difference?

You are putting words in my mouth that are not true. I am ALL for common sense drilling.

You guys want drilling without any regulation at all. That is what Palin was saying when she said drill baby drill. You know it, you want to admit it... its okay if you belive that... just say it.

You are putting words in my mouth that are not true. I am ALL for common sense drilling.

You can't give examples because what you are talking about is total b.s. You are basically trying to find a way to support domestic drilling after you've spent two years mocking it.

That is such a load of crap. You truly are a lawyer.

I have always been for common sense drilling, much like the president. We must do some drilling, we however, need to do it in a measured and carefull way.

Im okay with 90% of the drilling the is currently going on and I belive we should be permitting more than we currently are.
