It's Going Down In Wisconsin

its hilarious to watch the libs defend union worker pay when the private sector is not getting such a good deal and when there is no money to pay their exhorbant salaries and benefits...

why won't the unions simply negotiate? why do they have to hold the state hostage? i think the governor should just lay off people, then see how wonderful the union is.

the elected officials benefits are criminal, that's another topic.
Them having to pay into the pension and hc to a small degree is not asking much.

And they are willing to negotiate those provisions...this is about busting the union.

authoritarian? ME?!?!?!? LOL

it's not a punishment. The unions, especially the police unions, have put a stranglehold on the state budget with their demands. The rest of the state is hurting and it has a 2 year/3.5 BILLION dollar budget shortfall. you're not squeezing any more out of the tax payers, especially with unemployment as high as it is. They need to sacrifice also and if they can't do that, then the rest of the population needs to demand they be fired.

The union members being targeted are willing to negotiate those provisions. BUT, the police union is exempt from the Governor's cuts...and any other union that backed him in the 2010 election is exempt.

SO...if police unions are the culprit, they are not being touched.

Let me guess...

Wisconsin governor refuses to back down on public unions proposal

MADISON, Wis. — Gov. Scott Walker refused to back down Monday from his proposal to remove collective bargaining rights for most Wisconsin public employees, saying he needed all the concessions he was seeking.

His refusal to compromise, at least publically, comes as Republican lawmakers met privately to discuss the proposal, which could be difficult for their more moderate members to accept. Walker was pushing to pass the plan this week.

Union leaders said Walker was declaring war on them and they vowed to bring thousands of people to the Capitol to pressure them to at least compromise on the sweeping bill made public just four days before it was subject to a public hearing.

Passage of Walker's proposal would be the first and biggest shot by the new crop of the country's Republican governors against the public employee unions they blame for some of their states' budget problems.

Both public and private unions ramped up their public push to get the Republican-controlled Wisconsin Legislature to at least consider watering down the proposal from Walker. Union leaders said they would have been willing to negotiate higher health insurance and pension contributions, but Walker said the state's fiscal crisis is so severe he can't wait months to bargain with the unions

Wisconsin is our own little Egypt. The media is now calling Walker, Hosni Walker.

SF, I was watching Ed Schultz last night, one of the few cable shows I will tune into, and he was the only one giving this issue any coverage, and a gentlemen from "The Nation" made a comment that he also knew Walker for over 20 years and he was shocked by this move. He said it was not the Scott Walker that he knows. I thought I would throw that in for you benefit. It seems your friend has changed.

right....the people in Egypt go to the streets for democracy......the people in Wisconsin go to the streets for $600.....

and this is why I said it's a shitty bill that needs to have them added. no exclusions.

that said, I'm still on the 'fire them ALL', cops included, and start hiring the unemployed civilians. i'll bet they'll take a paycheck and buy their own bennies

I thought the Republicans promised to create jobs instead of putting more people into financial jeopardy?

SO...the government must PUNISH those who don't march in lock step with their dictum.

That authoritarian urge ALWAYS comes out from you folks on the right...

The one thing I could never figure out is that deep cuts mean unemployment down the line for someone, somewhere, so how can the Republicans always promise cuts and and jobs and lower taxes? They must be miracle workers.

why are liberals comparing this to egypt? apparently if the AMERICAN PEOPLE vote for change, it is no longer "elections have consequences"....its fuck the american people and let's take over the government because constitutional elections are only valid if democrats win.

when you guys shoved h/c down our throats you told us to shut up and take it because you guys won. and now your hypocrisy is plain as day. you're anti american and unpatriotic.

Yurt, this is a protest by people whose jobs are directly affected. So they should just give up what every other governor protected for over 50 years?

This Governor refuses to negotiate, he is only willing to dictate. HOW is that democratic Yurt?

where in the constitution does it say you have to negotiate? you guys shoved h/c down our throats and told us to take it. now, when repubs have the majority, you claim they can't pass a bill and then the dems flee the state and run away from their duty to vote.

those governor's didn't protect anything, if they had, they would not be in this financial mess and giving people unsupportable wages and benefits. he is NOT dictating at all...he is using the constitutional process of passing a bill. its fucking hilarious your intellectual dishonesty, i highly doubt you will claim obama is a dictator because he shoved h/c down our throats. no, its only authoritarian when its a republican.

you're an intellectually dishonest political hack

Rush Limbaugh Detained With Viagra

CBS/AP) Rush Limbaugh could see a deal with prosecutors in a long-running prescription fraud case collapse after authorities found a bottle of Viagra in his bag at Palm Beach International Airport. The prescription was not in his name.

Limbaugh was detained for more than three hours Monday at the airport after returning from a vacation in the Dominican Republic. Customs officials found the Viagra in his luggage but his name was not on the prescription, said Paul Miller, a spokesman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Miller said the alleged violation could be a second-degree misdemeanor. The sheriff's office was investigating and will soon turn the case over to the state attorney's office, which had no immediate comment Tuesday.

Under the deal reached last month with prosecutors, Limbaugh was not to be arrested for any infraction for 18 months in exchange for authorities deferring a charge of "doctor shopping." Prosecutors had alleged the conservative talk-show host illegally deceived multiple physicians to receive overlapping painkiller prescriptions.

she lied that he played with little girls or boys...how you can deny that is beyond me

you gave me a link only to him getting caught with viagra, you also falsely tried to insinuate because there is child exploitation there, that rush is likely guilty of that. nice try, but you would scream foul if a repub tried that...

Have you had actual real time experience of anything??

Do you really think that a union leader wakes one morning and says: Now, what'll I do today? I know, I'll call a strike!

Unions spend hours, days and often weeks in negotiation. Strike action is taken when NOTHING else works.

If the company management have a reputation of unreasonableness and will not negotiate from the outset there will still be an extended process of discussion and decision making before the workers walk.

You are, if I may say so, incredibly naive and inexperienced. Maybe one day someone will invite you into the real world. Do accept their invitation, it can only improve you.
