Boehner says facts show Obama a Christian, citizen

TE=NigelTufnel;774273]That was not the question. There's no need to lie about it. You have an arguable case without lying about the question. The trouble is that the results are subject to interpretation rather than a clear statement on whether the respondents believe Obama was born in the United States and how certain they are of their belief.

bullshit. now you're being dishonest. it was specifically related to "certainty"

Birtherism is mainstream among Republicans. It's a pretty sad commentary on the party.

again, bullshit

No, it wasn't. If it was, the word "certain" would have appeared in the question.

What's bullshit. The latest poll I've seen among Republican primary voters is that 51% think Obama was not born in the United States. It's a mainstream belief among Republicans. In my view, that's pretty sad.

here is the question:

Do you think Barack Obama was definitely born in the United States, probably born in the United
States, probably born in another country, or definitely born in another country?

are you actually claiming that "definitely" as used here is opposite or not the same as certain? that is wholly dishonest. the meaning is identical here.....here is your free english lesson :)

Main Entry: certain
Part of Speech: adjective
Definition: undoubtable, valid
Synonyms: absolute, ascertained, authoritative, clear, conclusive, confirmable, definite, demonstrable, destined, determined, establishable, evident, firm, fixed, genuine, guaranteed, having down pat, in the bag, incontrovertible, indubitable, infallible, irrefutable, known, on ice, plain, positive, predestined, provable, real, reliable, safe, salted away, set, sound, supreme, sure, sure thing, true, trustworthy, unambiguous, undeniable, undoubted, unequivocal, unerring, unmistakable, verifiable
Antonyms: doubtful, dubious, faltering, questionable, uncertain, unreliable, unsure

you're welcome

thats funny coming from someone who routinely disses polls, now that A poll supports your world view, polls are quite accurate....LOL

I'm saying the poll results are open to interpretation. People that are 99.9999% certain that Obama was born in the United States would have to choose the "probably" answer. I don't think it is accurate to claim such persons "aren't sure" that Obama was born in the United States.

Now, if the question was "Do you think Obama was born in the US?" and the options were "yes, no or unsure" you could measure how many people were unsure of his place of birth. You cannot do so with the question asked and the response options provided.

I don't routinely dis polls at all. I routinely dis polls that are subjective and open to interpretation. The poll of Republican primary voters that I referred to is not such a poll. The poll asked "Do you think Barack Obama was born in the United States?" The available responses were "yes, no and not sure." There is nothing subjective or open to interpretation about the question or the available responses.

first you try and claim definite doesn't mean certain....if you're not 100% certain, then you're unsure....you can't lump probably with certainty like you're trying to do, i already explained probably to you.

lol and you say i split hairs....there is no interpretation needed, you either believe it or you you're unsure....eg, probably

oh and i looked up your 51% poll....lmao...400 republicans as the sample

:palm:

I disagree that if you aren't 100% certain of something you are unsure of it.

Yes, there is interpretation needed. Different folks may have different interpretations of "probably." Some folks may take the view that they are only 100% certain of events that they personally witnesses and thus only probably believe that Obama was born in the US notwithstanding that they are 99.99999% certain of it. Saying these folks "aren't sure" strikes me as inaccurate.

Apparently, you are unfamiliar with how polling works.

Its clearly a loaded question. A huge percent of Americans are not absolutly sure of anything.

It was designed to get attention and sell ad's.

I wonder what percent would say they were SURE George Washington was born in the United States.

So, let me ask you this, if President Obama was born in the United States, but because of some burocratic snafoo his birthcertificate and any copies were destroyed...

Would you say that precluded him from being president?

It depends. Why would his be destroyed and the certificate that came before it as well as behind it are intact?

You so-called Christians?!!

Any Questions?
