The Date of The Union Address....

Leave it to a pinhead to come up with this silly idea of Congressmen being seated next to each other for the President's State of the Union address. And, leave it to the idiot Republican Establishment leadership, to go along with it!

In spite of a resounding voice of displeasure over a host of political issues and how Congress has handled them, they now seem to think the voters are wanting bipartisanship and cooperation with each other... that's what we want, for them to all get along and go along with each other's stupid spending and taxing ideas! Our anger is because they aren't nice to each other while parsing out our retirement funds and picking the gold out our teeth, to avoid any sense of fiscal responsibility!

I don't know who's idea it was, for everyone to have a "date" tonight, or what kind of thinking the leadership on the right was having, when they decided this was a good thing to do, but it provides plenty of evidence just how far we have to go, in order to restore sanity in Congress. GOP Elites, we did not throw people out of office and give you the House so that you could "get along" with Democrats! We don't expect you to get along! We expect you to fight and hurt feelings! We demand you represent our views, and this "tone of civility" is very troubling, because it seems you have gotten the wrong idea. We don't want to play nice! Playing nice, gets us the Pill Bill... Campaign Finance Reform.... A Teddy Kennedy Education Bill.... John McCain!

It sucks!

I think it's a cool idea. The State address is usually pretty partisan visually; one side giving constant standing O's, and the other pointedly remaining seated. They actually look like a bunch of children when you think about it.

Changing that dynamic probably can't be a bad thing...

Mark Udall's idea. And the whole congressional assembly, including my Congressman, fell for it.

I think it's a ploy to try to make it look like more people support the President's ideas by making it less obvious that a bit more than half the room aren't rising to cheer themselves hoarse at his slightest pause.

Jeepers; that certainly is a shocker that you think that...

It's called "they're internationalist fascist central planners too". You shouldn't be shocked anymore, dimwitted one.

Nothing says "one party/two heads" like sitting together to clapterfest your hands chapped with the "opposition"...

I also believe that you would think it if the roles were reversed, interestingly enough I would still think it if the roles were reversed.

Hate to disappoint you, but no. I see very little "support" in predictable applause, or lack thereof in a conspicuous lack of applause. It is pretty much universally acknowledged by the electorate that applause/no applause at the State of the Union is exceedingly meaningless.

You seem to put some stock in it, though.

Did you know Obama is also bringing in the young man who helped congresswoman Giffords? Another pep rally?

Penny Ice Creamery owners to sit with Michelle Obama during State of the Union address

Vice President Joe Biden called the pair in November to thank them for a video they posted to YouTube lauding the Obama administration for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. By opening the business in August with a $250,000 loan, the pair employed 11 workers and hired 20 other businesses to renovate and design their Cedar Street shop.
