Daily KOS has a "TARGET LIST"

While Fox is certainly slanted, it is one against many slanted to the left. Personally I think CNN is closest to the middle, but even it is tilted a bit.

We the people are responsible for this turn of events. We the people watch the op-ed shows. We revel in 'our sides' host railing on the opponent. We watch 'their sides' host so that we can bitch about them afterward.... and when I say "We", I really mean all you dopes, because I gave up watching news programming on TV. I refuse to be a part of their game any more.

I read the daily paper for news, rarely watch TV news. The paper offers more information, not just soundbites.

He had also been reported to the Sheriff's department 16 times for making threats to kill people, including bloggers, radio personalities, people at the college, as well as this very Congressperson.

There weren't just "signs" the guy was dangerous. He made sure people knew.

Do you have a source for your claim that he was reported the Sheriff's office 16 times for making death threats to kill people? I haven't seen that reported anywhere except by you on this board.

i never said he owed ME an apology....he owes the victims apologies for politicizing this, especially given he had zero evidence...and you talk about my reading comprehension...

:palm:

do you agree with him that palin should be indicted for incitement to murder?

I think she should be sent to her and stay there, forever :whoa:

The spin is just beginning, I have heard Fox distort a few issues already and even make up crap. Pretty soon they will discover he is a liberal who knows where the wmds were hidden.

Wikileaks proved once and for all MSM is corporate owned and operated and thus conservative when it comes to any controversy.

"Russell Baker, legendary columnist for the New York Times, put the matter well in December 2003: "Today's topdrawer Washington news people are part of a highly educated, upper middle class elite; they belong to the culture for which the American system works extremely well. Which is to say, they are, in the pure sense of the word, extremely conservative.""

It is.

"A terroristic threat is a crime generally involving a threat to commit violence communicated with the intent to terrorize another, to cause evacuation of a building, or to cause serious public inconvenience, in reckless disregard of the risk of causing such terror or inconvenience. It may mean an offense against property or involving danger to another person that may include but is not limited to recklessly endangering another person, harassment, stalking, ethnic intimidation, and criminal mischief."

Adding to your rant :D : it's just ludicrous to say the left is keeping this in the news, making unfound accusations, etc. MASS MURDER IS A BIG DEAL! It doesn't matter who did it to whom, people are going to be looking for motives until all the facts are out. The same thing happened with Columbine, VA Tech, and any other tragedy.

Of course politics are in the equation. Wake up people, a politician was targeted and almost killed. If this were Columbine, we'd be talking about bullies along with craziness. IMO this particular tragedy is a sore point with the right, not only because of rhetoric but because they are generally big proponents of guns. We know there's going to be a wave of legislation curbing guns, probably going nowhere, but the right will get all steamed about their 2nd Amendment rights, as usual.

Does anybody really think Congress isn't going to be doing some major soul-searching after this tragedy? Geez Louise!

Rant over. :D

Any knee-jerk legislative action taken as a result of lefties trying to politicize this tragedy, is going to be exploited for being just that, an overreaction. It will also be met with stiff opposition from the GOP-controlled house, so before you go getting all cocky, you better think long and hard about this, as it does have the potential to come back and bite Democrats in the ass. I would suggest you pinheads step back, take a deep breath, and compose yourselves before you move forward. If you politicize this tragedy, be prepared for the backlash.

As for your contention that making threats is a crime, as I said, it can technically be a crime, but most law enforcement will decline to enforce it, unless there is some compelling reason to believe the threats are serious. In most cases, generic verbal threats, made by people who don't have a history of following through with the threats, are generally ignored. A lot depends on whether you have witnesses who will testify under oath, and other circumstances which may be exclusive to the particular situation. In other words, you can't just have someone arrested because you perceived a threat in something they supposedly said.

Let's be clear, the left is not keeping this in the news, neither is the right, it's in the news because it is a terrible tragedy. It is the LEFT who continues to try and politicize it, and make it because of all these things that are totally unrelated, and no proof exists to support! Crosshairs on a political ad... that didn't make this scumbag pull the trigger! Something Sarah Palin said on her Facebook page, did not make this turd kill those people! Yet, that continues to be the incessant message the LEFT is trying to promote! And about every other breath, they utter some patronizing bullshit about how we need to change the tone.... well why don't you fucking pinheads change YOUR TONE? Stop beating the GOP over the head with this tragedy and trying to infer they had something to do with this, while calling for civility!

Definitely questionable. Holding campaign events to fire off an M16 is acceptable by itself, but should not mention the opponent in my opinion.

One of the most quoted Palin comments. The above is nothing different than the decades of comments we get from politicians. Nothing about the above suggests we should go out and kill people. It is no different than Obama quoting the untouchables or calling opponents 'the enemy'.

Again, the above is simply rhetoric. Faux outrage over it is pathetic.

again... rhetoric. If you want to ban all politicians from such rhetoric, lead the charge.

I think that is christie's message, as well as mine and I have been writing letters for a long time about this subject and how we are only as strong as our weakest links. The 24 hour news has been a bane on our society! I have said it more than once on here. The fringe has gotten a voice as a result of this change and we need to do something to promote responsibility in society for our words.

Be Impeccable with your Word: Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the Word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your Word in the direction of truth and love.

This is Toltec and in the Four Agreements, think what life would be like if everyone practiced this, or were even true to their Christian faith.

"Tucson and Arizona and the rest of the country have become very divided by a lot of the rhetoric that exists, particularly over the radio waves and some TV air, which is designed, in my opinion, to inflame the public against public officials, elected officials, government and the administration," Dupnik said in an interview with CNN.com. "And that kind of an atmosphere, in my opinion, influences people who are not stable -- people who have troubled personalities."

"That may be free speech, but it's not without consequences," he said Saturday.

Where exactly did he blame conservatives?

Asked Monday what would help heal these divisions, Dupnik talked about a return to old-fashioned morality. It's an outlook that comes from a man who has seen "simpler" times and who tends to view the world through the lens of right and wrong -- moral and immoral decisions.

I would like to see where he blamed conservatives, it looks to me like he blames everyone who promotes the "them" against "us" vitriol. It seems he is 75 and remembers when this wasn't done to the extent it is today.

Media is not taking responsibility, to me, this is why we are where we are today, anything for a buck!

Damo was very specific that's why I asked him for his source.

My guess is that it was the Denver Post.... There was an op-ed on it this morning that mentioned the 16 times.... but they must have yanked it as I am not seeing it in the piece any more (though it is in one of the comments on the article still).

Thanks. You're really clarifying things. I can guess where Damo got it too, but I thought I'd give him the benefit of the doubt first.

BS-he's a democrat who as others on here have proven, has tried to lay this shooting at the feet of conservative...it's assinity like his that continues the hate and divisiveness.

"When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous. And unfortunately, Arizona I think has become sort of the capital. We have become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry."

And at a later date he had this to say...so what was that about him not "targeting" (pun intended) conservatives?

“The kind of rhetoric that flows from people like Rush Limbaugh, in my judgment he is irresponsible, uses partial information, sometimes wrong information,” Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said today. “[Limbaugh] attacks people, angers them against government, angers them against elected officials and that kind of behavior in my opinion is not without consequences.”

“The vitriol affects the [unstable] personality that we are talking about,” he said. “You can say, ‘Oh no, it doesn’t,’ but my opinion is that it does.”

Oh yeah he was not targeting conservatives (eye-roll)

This is not the first time Sheriff Dupnik has gone off on tangents. Back in September, he accused Tea Party members of bigotry and called Arizona’s new controversial anti-illegal immigration law “racist” and “disgusting.” He even openly flirted with the idea of ordering his deputies not to enforce it.

Thanks, didn't see that comment.

So, you think his comments cause division and not Rush's?

I said I think he continues it. He supposedly despises it. Yet in an official capacity he goes off on this partisan tangent! Rush is a pundit-a conservative radio head- He does what he does in his capacity as such.

The Sheriff is a public official whose job is definitely NOT to be a partisan talking head- The irony of his blind hypocrisy here is stunning.

Yes, yours is, giving a pass to one, while condemning the other...
