Obama doesn't get it, the Dems don't get it, but does the GOP even get it?

Trying Gitmo detainees in civilian courts... Cramming Obamacare down our throats... Bending over backwards to appease the Muslim community... bowing to Kings... bailing out GM... implementing socialist policy at breakneck speed... refusing to budge on extending the Bush tax cuts... TSA pat-downs and full body scans.... all while the American public screamed NO! All against the wishes and will of the vast majority of the public! And with the arrogance and condescension only a Harvard liberal elite could have. Obama has stubbornly and defiantly refused to listen to the people, even in the wake of losing the House of Representatives, even while watching his poll numbers go down faster than Britney Spears on her 4th honeymoon. Clearly, this president doesn't get it! He is so far out of touch with mainstream America, it's doubtful he will ever understand just how far out there he really is.

This man, who has never run so much as a candy store in his life, is currently finding himself in way over his head, and ineffective as both the leader of the nation, and the leader of the free world. He was a great campaigner, but he simply lacks the ability to govern, and it's beginning to show, and show badly. After spending trillions to try and bail the economy out, that has been a dismal failure, nothing to show for it, no promise of new jobs, just the sheepish admission there was never any such thing as a "shovel ready job!" He has more "czars" in the White House than a Romanov Wedding, and still, remains feckless and frozen, indecisive and unable to manage the tenuous circumstances of the assorted coalitions who put him into power.

The Democrats, seem to be equally clueless. Just take a look at this board, the smug arrogant comments continue to propagate and the attitude seems to almost be a 'double-down' of the attitude which got them into this mess to begin with. Even after losing in the midterms by HISTORIC margins, the likes of which haven't been seen since Reconstruction, the Democrats continue the same mantra, the same message, the same smears, lies, and distortions. The same attacks of the same suspects... not a lick of change in tone, if anything, it has become more shrill, more intense, and more pronounced. Like their president, they seem to be convinced they are right, and the public just hasn't heard the message articulated properly. See, we're all stupid people who lack the intellectual curiosity and wisdom to know what's best for us. If only they could silence Glenn Beck, whom they've now resorted to comparing with Hitler (no joking), and Sarah Palin, who can post a single sentence on her Facebook page, and have the liberal media humming for a week about it... her daughter appears on Dancing with the Stars, and the pinheads shoot their damn TV! Clearly, these people just don't get it!

Then we get to the Establishment Republicans... do they even get it? When I hear idiots like Spencer Bachus saying the Tea Party cost republicans the Senate, I have to wonder! Mr. Bachus, if it weren't for the Tea Party, you wouldn't have won the HOUSE! The mid-term tsunami was not some glorious mandate for Republican policies! It was a direct repudiation of status quot policy from both the left and right, and a call... a SCREAMING call, for smaller limited government and less spending! Right off the bat, we get Mitch McConnell trying to spin earmarks into something they just can't part with.... Mr. McConnell, don't you get it? The people spoke rather loudly, and you of all people, should have understood their message. If not, you can certainly be replaced like many other RINOs were this year. This is not some confused and muddled faction who doesn't really know what they want, and the beltway crowd needs to try to grasp that, before they are ALL sent packing. Oh yes, it can and will happen if the people are not heard, and so far, it seems very few in Washington, on either side, are actually GETTING IT!

the likes of which haven't been seen since Reconstruction,

The seat losses haven't been seen since 1940, not reconstruction. The Democrats won a greater percentage of the popular vote in 2008. Why should the victory in 2008 be counted as less just because we had a damn good year in 2006 as well?

The Republicans are going to lose a shitload of seats in 2012 when turnout is up. This is why we should extend the term of representatives to four years, so that carnky old voters don't derail good and virtous policies with their immorality and evil ever two years. .

even while watching his poll numbers go down faster than Britney Spears on her 4th honeymoon.

Why do conservatives seem to believe they can just say shit?

In Republican speak, "Establishment Republican" means anyone who hasn't mindlessly towed the Republican party line all throughout their career. The small refuge of moderates that was essentially removed from the Republican party in the past four years = establishment Republican, while the Republican party insiders who are pushing the same shit they always have = "Tea-partying Washington outsider".

The Tea Party is not an independent political movement. It is the Republican party base. Just take a poll of the tea party and the Republican party. The Tea Party takes all of the same positions as the Republican party, only even more extreme. The Republicans are neo-Nazi's, the Tea Party has policies that would make Hitler, the king of the Right, blush.

The people spoke rather loudly,
A 5% swing in a low turnout midterm election = "the people" (apparently all of them, including me) "speaking loudly". Thanks for that.

This is why conservatives are really neo-communists. They cannot see people as individuals, only as units that either follow their evil ideology, and want to destroy America, or those that love freedom and their country and must be destroyed so that they can succeed in their plan to strip humanity of everything good and virtous and replace it with their heinous, immoral, evil policies.

Republicans have forfeited their right to life. From here on out every liberal should practice their right to self-defense against the conservatives that would do them harm. Kill all conservatives.

Dixie. Dixie. Dixie. Were you cantankerous and defiant as a child? Did you spend many a lonely hour having been sent to your room? When attempting to defy your parents did you notice there was seldom a lick of change in their tone and, if anything, they became more shrill and more intense?

President Obama is a leader. It appears you have difficulty understanding what a leader is. "A person or thing that leads. A guiding or directing head, as of an army, movement, or political group." (Dic.com)

Guiding. Directing. Leading. That's what leaders do. That's what Presidents and Prime Ministers do.

See, we're all stupid people who lack the intellectual curiosity and wisdom to know what's best for us.

Not at all. The problem is, especially with HCR, that so many lies and distortions have been told. How many citizens have intimate knowledge of universal health care in foreign countries? How could they have such knowledge unless they researched it themselves?

The point is Obama knows universal health care is beneficial to all just as the citizens in the dozens of countries that have universal care are aware of that. Logically, there shouldn't be a need for any discussion but the lies and distortions raise false concerns. As the leader Obama has to go with what is right and good. As the leader he can't let the lies and distortions put forward by opponents thwart what is right.

It is not arrogance. It is not being elitist. It is being a leader.

I'm wondering what the real reason is that causes you to be so upset. Is it because you believe HCR is bad or is it the idea you're being told what to do, regardless of whether it's good or bad? I'm inclined to think it's the latter which brings us back to the first question I asked, "Were you cantankerous and defiant as a child?"

I agree that Washington doesn't get it, but it's always a bit crazy when you think your views & that of the American public are one & the same. They're not. You're insane, and they're not.

And what is your hangup with Islam? It manifests all of the time. I think you need to spend some time on that one & get over your Muslim issues...

He does not have a muslin issue, he has an angury rant looking for an excuse to come out issue!

President Obama is a leader. It appears you have difficulty understanding what a leader is. "A person or thing that leads.

The problem is, Obama doesn't know how to lead because he has never lead anything. President of the Harvard Law Review not withstanding, he has no leadership experience. His governmental leadership experience is less than that of Sarah Palin, that should be an indicator, but to masses of pinheads, it's not. The man simply doesn't know how to be a leader! He's likable, has an appealing personality, and he gives great speeches and knows how to campaign, but he just doesn't have the skill set to lead. This is more than evident in his fecklessness and inability to make decisions. He waffles around and hem-haws over things, not wanting to be decisive. Case in point, the Bush tax cuts... Here we've put up with a year of Obama signaling he isn't going to extend them, then tossing out a bone that he might extend them, then walking it back... all the while, unemployment is remaining unchanged, as businesses wait to see what their fate is going to be. The polls clearly indicate the people want them extended, at least temporarily, and every economist tells us it would be a mistake to raise taxes during these economic times, but Obama remains caught between what he knows he should do, and his personal ideology. It appears, with the tea party tsunami, he isn't going to have a choice, as moderate democrats are jumping ship left and right, and agreeing that the tax cuts should be extended. So why didn't he do this a year ago? If he had been a "leader" he would have come out then and said; Hey, I know I said I wouldn't do this, but times are worse than I anticipated, and we have to do this... then the economy and unemployment situation may have started to improve and Democrats may not have lost their asses in the midterms... but we'll never know, because Obama is tone deaf as a leader. Now it appears, he's going to have to do this anyway, because Congress is going to send him the legislation.

Another example is the closing of Gitmo and trying terrorists in civilian courts... all of this time, Obama has stuck to his guns because of ideology, because he made the campaign promise to close Gitmo. Now he's finding out, that isn't as easy as he thought it would be, and this idea of civilian courts isn't going to fly. Yesterday, they all but acquitted the terrorist mastermind of the embassy bombings, because much of the evidence was simply thrown out of court and a lone juror refused to budge. This wouldn't have been the case in a military tribunal, and it's an indicator of what is going to happen across the board with these cases. Most everyone except the liberal left, knows and understands, it is best to try these people in military tribunals, and it's best to keep them at Gitmo. But, for two years now, we've watched Obama and Holder try to fit a square peg in a round hole, convinced that has to be the solution... they're going to have to cave on that one too.... why not save themselves the political capital and embarrassment and LEAD instead of following ideology?

The American public is insane, due to the right-wing cancer that's currently metastasizing.

Wars come and go just like tax increases and cuts. Medical reform was the priority. Medical reform is going to benefit the American people more than closing Gitmo.

As for the tax cuts Obama knows they should be eliminated for the wealthy and kept for the middle class, however, it's not that easy so he has to adjust to the reality. It's not waffling. It's trying to find a solution.

Well there again, the HCR that Nancy Pelosi jammed down our throats, was so watered down, it didn't even do what it was intended to do, and even THAT is going to be repealed. All this time, all this energy, for what? So that it can be repealed by the next Congress and defunded by the current one?

On the tax cuts, Obama SHOULD know that most Americans want them extended! He should have known this a year ago, and he should have done it then, rather than holding out... obfuscating... teasing... waiting... All this time, the economy could have been improving, joblessness could be going away for millions of Americans, as companies could plan for certainty, but NOPE... The Ideologue has to have it his way, and drag his feet.

It was not jamed down the throat of Americans... The majority agree with it or wanted it to be even bigger...!

A small but very vocal group is angury about it...but
