Beck's holocaust comments: OTT?

http://news.aspects.cc/history/why-everyone-should-learn-about-the-holocaust

Describing George Soros’s contribution to the Nazi operation, his father wrote, “As Jews couldn’t go to school any more and their teachers couldn’t teach, they were ordered to report to Council headquarters. The children were enlisted as couriers under the command of their teachers. My younger son, George, also became a courier. On the second day, he returned home at seven in the evening.

‘What did you do all day?’

‘Mostly nothing. But this afternoon I was given some notices to deliver to various addresses.’

Did you read what they said?’

I even brought one home.’

He handed me a small slip of paper, with a typewritten message [a summons]. ‘Do you know what this means?’ I asked him.

‘I can guess,’ he replied, with great seriousness. ‘They’ll be interned.’”

His father explained that George was “clearly disappointed that I wouldn’t let him work anymore. He was beginning to enjoy his career as a courier; it was all a big adventure.”

No, I want him banned because he's a shit-stirrer who posts ugly, vulgar and racist comments, apparently for the fun of it. You only overlook them because they're all directed at liberals.

Now let's look at the posts.

christie: I'll never understand why this guy isn't banned, yet Zurt got flagged and he posted on real topics.

yurt: why should he [Zurt] be banned? zurt broke numerous rules repeatedly

christie: he didn't do anything different from what others are doing.

yurt: "he follows me all over the interwebs, its annoying, but not bannable annoying."

First you said he should be banned because he broke numerous rules repeatedly. Then you say he's annoying but not bannable annoying.

So yes, you did contradict yourself. :palm:

cawacko is right, they are two different situations...i called you a liar because you said this was in response:

i never said that in response to you in this thread, that is a lie...you claimed that is how the posts or conversation went....that is simply untrue...and you are here again claiming i said that in "direct" response to something you said and you're trying to make it out as if i said that in response to "he didn't do anything different from what others are doing."

here is the post and it is in response to athena, so unless you're athena, you're lying:

as we can see...i'm only talking about his following me around the interwebs as not being a bannable offense...and if you read athena post (assuming you are not her) you can see why i talk about following....

seriously christie...whats up

hey christie....you wanted to know what happened to zurt

see how that is different than my comment about him stalking me on the interwebs....

Are you drunk? Athena's not even in this thread. What in god's name are you talking about?

no...but you obviously were shit faced last night if you can't remember your false clam that my comments about zurt were in response to something you said....you claimed when i talked about him following me around the interwebs that it was in response to you.....not true..it was in response to athena

the posts above are clickable, i suggest you click on them and then apologize to everyone for your nonsense :)

Yes, his father told him to to say "if you report they will deport you"...and so? Would that mean that Soros participated in sending jews to Auschwitz? The answer to that is yes... This was the question posed to me by yurt and this excerpt from Tavidar Soros' book supported Beck's statemnet that Soros participated in sending jews to death camps. Yet he, Soros, recalls this as the happiest time in his life. Beck's emphasis was on this seeming callous statement by Soros. That with the aid of history how he, Soros, can look back at the atrocity of the time and recall it as his happiest in the context of being asked about his participation!

What is it you can't absorb? Seriously?? George had NO choice but to deliver the notices. Do you comprehend THAT?

THEN, when he delivered the notices, he did the maximum he could do to help the people under the circumstances; he WARNED them they would be deported if they report. He was trying to tell them to flee.

You keep trying to portray that delivering bad news is WHAT made him happy. Beck does a good job of trying to deceive people here. Beck sets the question, and then he plays an edited snippet of Soros answering someone ELSE'S question that doesn't match what Beck and YOU now are trying to portray. You really need to be smarter that that!

Again, Beck never said nor have I, that he had a choice. Again, what Beck said and what I have tried to say is that the problem Beck has is with Soros'callousness. And you are wrong with implying that "he did the maximium he could". There is no apparent attempts from his fathers own words, apart from a one time event. According to this excerpt from his fathers book George enjoyed delivering the notices for deportation:

His attitude to humanity is best summed up in his introduction to his father’s book, “It is a sacreligious thing to say, but these ten months [of the Nazi occupation] were the happiest times of my life … We led an adventurous life and we had fun together.”

You and Beck are still jumping the shark. He DID everything he could do. No where does it say he only warned one family.

Let's see...why might an 80 year old man look back at his early teens with some longing? When I was 14, both my parents who I loved dearly were still alive, I was young, had a chip on my shoulder and had my whole life ahead of me. Now, as an 80 year old man even though he is wealthy, he faces his mortality. He said WE had fun. That would include others, like his family and friends.

His father said: George was “clearly disappointed that I wouldn’t let him work anymore. He was beginning to enjoy his career as a courier; it was all a big adventure.” His father doesn't say George is disappointed because he enjoyed giving people bad news. Do you realize that George was endangering himself every time he warned the person he delivered the notice to? If that person told the Nazis that George had warned them, he would have been killed. Is it possible George enjoyed the danger?

I have a big problem when people claim to know another person's intentions. And Glenn Beck gets no slack from me. I won't say Glenn Beck is evil, but his message IS.

I will restate what I said in the beginning: First of all, it would require me to believe all the propaganda Beck has already created about 'progressives' and 'liberals'. And I'd have to believe that Soros IS a puppet master.

I don't buy either one. This is the same Glenn Beck who says people should run away from ministers who preach social justice. Jesus preached social justice, so did Martin Luther King Jr. This is the same Glenn Beck who was fingered by the guy who set out to murder fellow Americans at the Tides Foundation as his motivation. This is the same Glenn Beck who creates fear the dollar will fall, promotes buying gold, and then pushes Goldline International who swindles people into buying coins at 200 times their melt value.

THEN, I point out that the progressive movement was the genesis of women's rights, and you squawk that I don't include conservatives. That's because it was conservatives who fought it! Just like they fought all human rights legislation in this country's history. AND, it is Beck and conservatives who are saying progressive are the biggest danger to this country.

Progressives and liberals are not a danger to this country...Glenn Beck is a danger to this country...a BIG danger.

Yes, he is , but only the truly sensible people realize this and we must watch as the crazies take over! We can only hope that we will prevail as right always does, onward and upward!

We always have a choice. Do you comprehend that. Some people face personal harm for rejecting evil. They're called heros. Soros is the opposite of that.

By warning the people he was delivering the notices to he did all he could do to help them. If he fell on his sword like you say he should do, he would no longer be able to warn anybody.

It's cowards like you who only have the courage to tell other people what they should do when facing peril.

Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live; it is asking others to live as one wishes to live.

I think he could have done more, like not be a nazi collaborator.

Selfishness is dressing up self serving cowardice as heroism.

He was not a Nazi collaborator. He was risking his life EVERY time he warned people they would be deported. If you keep chanting things over and over, are you able to convince yourself your dogma is fact?

He never claimed to be a hero. YOU are the one that wants to define a coward without your own life on the line.

Maybe if you keep chanting that he's a hero, that will become true.

YOU are the one who is holding him up as a victim, when he was a nazi collaborator.

It is certainly a callous sentiment given the atrocities that were committed and THAT is what Beck was getting at in his examination of George Soros the man.

Is Beck a psychologist? Is he taking more into account, or is he cherrypicking phrases that HE thinks are "revealing?"

I'm not a Soros fan at all, but I have seen Beck do this with a variety of people on the left that he doesn't like. He'll take quotes from them, or their friends, or merely people that spent time with whoever is target is, and isolate them and try to draw much more sweeping conclusions from them that they deserve.

I'm not a psychologist, either, but there are plenty of ways to look at the Soros comment about the Nazi occupation. To me, he's certainly not making a judgment about Nazism, or saying that Nazism was "fun." He was talking about his perspective as a kid during a war.

Beck is a total character assassin; it's pretty much what he does...

Remorselessness is typical for nazi collaborators. Is that what you're saying?

All I have read is ID's clip; I don't know what his final feeling today is about the entire experience, or if he has no remorse.

That's my only point; there isn't enough there for the kind of sweeping conclusions that Beck draws, and that's par for the course w/ Beck.

Soros may be an evil jerk, who feels great kinship with the Nazi's; I really don't know from the scant information presented, and neither does Beck.

once again onceler projects...you run around accusing others of knee jerk defense of repub....yet you run around knee jerk defense of anyone liberal...99% of the time

You just keep up the chanting, don't you Ass...?

Say this 1000 times without drawing a breath...he was a nazi collaborator, he was a nazi collaborator, he was a nazi collaborator...

Please do it as you stand on one foot at the top of the basement stairs...OK?

That's fairly idiotic. I have started threads saying people like Reid & Pelosi should step down, for starters.

I said I wasn't a fan of Soros, and I'm not; I just think the conclusions being drawn are dumb. Especially your comment about it being disgusting or whatever - he wasn't saying anything about Nazism.

But you can't read, so...
