first, by totally eliminating agencies that have no constitutional basis, like ATF, FBI, and DOEducation. Then 20% of whats left.
What would you do with the workers who lost their jobs as a result?
How about letting them find a job doing something else? That's what most of us have to do when we lose our jobs, isn't it?
So you want to cut our most cost effective aircraft, our most cost effective power projection weapons, and a weapon that the rest of the world is at least 40 years away from being able to copy? And replace them with....? Oh you don't have any suggestions?the f-15, aircraft carriers and their support, the b-2 just to name a few - why do we need any stealth aircraft
Bolded for emphasis. What a great way to stimulate the economy! Increase the number of jobless people by a million or so. And best of all, make sure it's people with no marketable skills!it will help cut 'defense' spending and allow us to sent troops and equipment home (thereby increasing unemployment - how many troops do we actually need)
DamOWNED!STY says:
To which you answer:
What? Eliminating specific stuff and then 20% of what's left is only 1%, in what world? The magical universe where 1/3 doesn't exist? Come on, first you interrupt a good discussion of specific programs that can be cut with a statement that is made false by the very discussion you interrupted, then you magically think that cutting specific agencies then cutting 20 percent across the board after would only be 1%? You aren't making sense. In all it would account for more than 20% of the Budget.
We?
So you're unemployed?
So, by that logic, spending is a foregone conclusion and we shouldn't even look at cutting it?And I'm going to warn you Libertarian Conservative types, this stupidity of agreeing with Liberals about cutting the military, is the WRONG approach, and you'll pay for that. The second you agreed with them on this, they started dreaming up new ways to spend that money on some new government entitlement that they will claim is a "savings" to us in the long run! You are idiots, absolute moronic fuckwitted idiots, who just don't get it yet! You can't, for one second, agree with these socialist fools, or you'll have us so wrapped up in new Liberal spending programs it will make your head spin! That's ALL THE FUCK THEY NEEDED TO HEAR!

It's not about agreeing with liberals. The Pentagon spends billions and billions of dollars. Like any organization of that size there is bound to waste, duplicity in assingments/units etc. that should be reviewed. There is nothing wrong with that. I'm not an expert on military spending so I can't line item for anyone where or what spending could be cut. I support the military 100%but it doesn't mean they should have a blank check with limited oversight on how that money is spent.
What you are doing, is exactly what Republicans did when Democrats whined about the cost of prescription drugs for the elderly. The next thing you knew, a Republican was signing his bill into law, providing prescription drugs for the elderly!
Now Democrats want to gut the military to avoid making cuts in their precious social programs, and here you are, agreeing to "go along to get along" like John McCain.
Yes, this is entirely true, and it is backed up by facts you can go look up for yourself. The decrease in revenues following a top marginal tax hike, doesn't always occur the following year, sometimes it takes a few years, but it inevitably comes. It has happened ever time in the past 150 years of US history, where we increased the top marginal rate.
Yeah, I have a much better idea, let's cut the waste in every program across the board, let's defund programs that are ineffective and haven't worked, let's get rid of the bloat and redundancy. And how about this... How about CUTTING the top marginal rates, and eliminating the capital gains tax completely, so as to stimulate spending, investment, and growth, which will increase revenues?
What would you do with the workers who lost their jobs as a result?

Yes. YES. YES!!!!SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!
as a former active duty marine, I've seen first hand the wasteful spending on the military budget when they had us strip, sand, and repaint the baseboards of every barracks in our unit at the cost of 50,000 dollars........only to have them demolished 6 months later when they were ready to move us in to the newly constructed barracks that had been planned for a year. They didn't want to lost the budget money.
so shut your fucking mouth, sit in the back of the bus, and let us true fiscal conservatives drive.
So what government spending should be eliminated?
