it will help cut 'defense' spending and allow us to sent troops and equipment home (thereby increasing unemployment - how many troops do we actually need)

Before anyone starts I'm all for cutting the military. By a lot. But there are certain things we should cut more than others. The Army, and to a slightly lesser extent (since their budget comes from the Navy) the Marines should get bigger cuts than the Navy itself, and the Air Force...well I'm not as informed about them but I know they can take a big COLA hit and still be fine.

It's not about agreeing with liberals. The Pentagon spends billions and billions of dollars. Like any organization of that size there is bound to waste, duplicity in assingments/units etc. that should be reviewed. There is nothing wrong with that. I'm not an expert on military spending so I can't line item for anyone where or what spending could be cut. I support the military 100%but it doesn't mean they should have a blank check with limited oversight on how that money is spent.

The decrease in revenues following a top marginal tax hike, doesn't always occur the following year, sometimes it takes a few years, but it inevitably comes. It has happened ever time in the past 150 years of US history, where we increased the top marginal rate.

Incorrect. By that flawed logic, cutting taxes down to 1% would result in increased revenue. The threshold at which a tax results in decreased revenue is somewhere around 50%, or even as high as 70% according to some economists.

Yeah, I have a much better idea, let's cut the waste in every program across the board, let's defund programs that are ineffective and haven't worked, let's get rid of the bloat and redundancy. And how about this... How about CUTTING the top marginal rates, and eliminating the capital gains tax completely, so as to stimulate spending, investment, and growth, which will increase revenues?

You'd have to eliminate at least $2 trillion of the Federal budget in order to erase the deficit, pay the interest on the debt, and pay down the national debt at a snail's pace. So essentially you'd need to slash Federal spending by 60%,which is a lot easier said than done. Where would you start? Care to provide some specifics?

as a former active duty marine, I've seen first hand the wasteful spending on the military budget when they had us strip, sand, and repaint the baseboards of every barracks in our unit at the cost of 50,000 dollars........only to have them demolished 6 months later when they were ready to move us in to the newly constructed barracks that had been planned for a year. They didn't want to lose the budget money.

so shut your fucking mouth, sit in the back of the bus, and let us true fiscal conservatives drive.
